Horse Racing Game Escalado Fun Collectible Table Top Game

Escalado is a classic collectible table top game. When my Dad was moving Grandad out of his house to go and live in appartment he discovered an old boxed set of the horse racing game Escalado. I'd never seen anything like it. There was long fabric race track that was laid out on a dining table. The track was vibrated by a mechanical ratchet that also simulated the sound of horse galloping and the horses and their jockeys were made from lead or similar metal.
Having looked a bit further into it this horse racing game is clearly very collectible and a classic if its type. The version of Escalado that Grandad had was made by Chad Valley one the oldest and best known toy manufacturers in the UK. Escalado means climb in English and I can only guess it refers to horse jumping. The 'jumps' on the Escalado track were little yellow posts that the horses had to navigate. One of the players would crank the handle and the fabric course would vibrate. This vibration would cause the horses to move along the track to the finish.
Just like real horse racing players could place bets.
