Espadrilles have been around since at least the 14th century, and they're gaining popularity by the second! That's got to have something to do with them being so cute and classy at the same time: you can easily go from a day at the beach to a romantic dinner with your sweetheart without even changing your shoes. About Espadrilles.
- Originated in the Pyrenees.
- Made of canvas/cotton fabric with soles made of rope or rubber made to look like rope.
- Can have flat, wedge, or platform heels.
- The top of the shoe is known as an upper.
- Jute is a common fiber used to make the soles of modern espadrilles.
