All about essential oils
For essentially healthy puppies
Essential oils as a part of aromatherapy can be used to make sure your puppy stays healthy. You can use essential oils for your puppy in three ways, by massaging, inhalation or by oral consumption. Though oral consumption is not advisable for puppies, it can be taken if it is absolutely necessary under the supervision of an aromatherapy expert.Massaging is the easiest way to use essential oils for your puppy. Massaging ensures that the essential oil gets absorbed into the skin by the pores and thus gets absorbed into the blood. Always ensure that you mix the essential oil with base oil like olive oil, because essential oils are extremely potent and can be harmful to the puppy. Also never massage the oil in a place where the puppy can lick it off, as this can be toxic for the dog.
The inhalation method can also be used. Here you have to use a diffuser for the oil to get converted into its gaseous state so that the puppy can ingest it through the olfactory system. Oral application or oral ingestion of the oil is another method, but one which is very rarely used. This is because essential oils are very potent and toxic. They have to be ingested under extreme care and caution of an expert.
