Essential Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals are essential substances that you are the body needs to function and maintain a healthy body and mind. Without vitamins and minerals, your body and mind cannot function and maintain good health.
Vitamins and minerals are found naturally and unprocessed in foods, such as fruits, vegetables and grains. Most people do not get the nutrition that there body and mind need to function. people take vitamin and mineral supplements to take in the nutrients they do not get from there diet. Of course, the best way to get the vitamins and minerals your body and mind needs is through natural and unprocessed foods. Supplements are just that, supplements. They fill the nutritional gap that most people have; they do not replace natural, unprocessed foods.

Essential Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals are important nutrients that the body must be on a regular basis. Our body's organs have specific functions. These organs use chemical reactions caused by proteins called enzymes along with their coenzyme. Vitamins and minerals act as coenzymes, enabling these chemical reactions to happen.
Vitamins are organic and come from plant and animal sources. There are two types of vitamins used by the body and mind, fat-soluble vitamins and water-soluble vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins require a protein to enter the bloodstream and are store in the body. Water-soluble vitamins do not require a protein to enter the bloodstream and are not stored in the body.
Minerals are not organic and do not come from plant or animal sources. They are in plant and animal sources because the plants get them from the soil, the earth, and animals get them from the plants they consume.

Essential Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements

Vitamin A(Retinol):Fat-soluble.Helps cells reproduce normally-a process called differentiation (cells that have not properly differentiated are more likely to undergo pre-cancerous changes). Required for vision; vitamin A maintains healthy cells in various structures of the eye and is required for the transduction of light into nerve signals in the retina.

Coenzyme Q10(supplement): Takes oxygen to tissues for healing.

Free-form amino acid complex(supplement): Rebuilds tissue and detoxifies harmful toxins to guard the lungs and liver.

Selenium (mineral):Guards against free radicals.

Vitamin B complex (vitamins),(thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), biotin, folic acid and the cobalamins (vitamin B12): Vitamins B1, B2, B3, and biotin help in different aspects of energy production, vitamin B6 helps in amino acid metabolism and vitamin B12 and folic acid in the division of cells. Also essential for production of red blood cells and antibodies.

Vitamin C(Ascorbic Acid): Water-soluble. Improves immune system.

Vitamin D(Cholecalciferol/Calciferol):Fat-soluble. Produced through the skin from exposure to sun light. Needed for utilization of phosphorus and calcium (minerals).

Vitamin E(Alpha-Tocopherol): Fat-soluble. Antioxidant that protects cell membranes and other fat-soluble parts of the body. Supplies oxygen to the cell and guards the lung tissue. Strong guard against free radicals.

Essential fatty acids(omega3/supplement): Essential for the formation of cells.

Calcium, Magnesium, silica(minerals):Essential for healing and strength.

Zinc: Enhances immune function.

    I don't think we should rely so much on supplements, good organic food, variety of foods and balanced diet will give you all necessary nutrition.Thanks for the great lens.

    I have been researching much this year about which vitamins and minerals are most essential and then trying to make sure they are in my diet. Thank you for your helpful information. :)
