Ranked #18,053 in Healthy Living, #267,940 overall

Many people think the use of healing essential oils is a relatively new thing. Truth be told, it isn't. It has been around for centuries--throughout the entire world. From the ancient Egyptians to the well-known D. Gary Young (founder, owner, and president of Young Living Essential Oils), essential oils have been a staple for many lives and many lifestyles of natural health and alternative healing.

Egyptians

The Trend Setters

Ancient Egyptians are the first recorded people to have used essential oils. Not only did the Egyptians use essential oils for healing, but also for religious purposes and in their makeup. Because Egyptians believed that the sense of smell was the most important sense, they took their essential oils very seriously and with the utmost respect.

Ancient Chinese

Just like the Egyptians, the ancient Chinese used essential oils for healing, massages, aroma therapy, and religious purposes.

Even today, the Chinese use essential oils and aromatherapy in alignment with their religious beliefs.

Ancient Greeks

The Greeks were influenced medicinally by the ancient Egyptians--in regards to aromatherapy and essential oils. One famous physician was a huge advocate for natural health by the use of aromatherapy. Hippocrates had one method of healing which involved aromatherapy massage for pain relief.

Lavender and Its Many Uses

Even though there are many different types of essential oils to choose from, lavender seems to be the favorite. Across the world, you can see the beauty of lavender fields.
