Paintball Squeegies

It's going to happen. You will be engrossed in a battle and a paintball will break in your barrel. Might not seem like a big deal until you see your balls doing corkscrews or hard right turns. Ever hear of a spitball? It's an illegal baseball pitch for good reason. There is no way to know where the ball is going. It's important to keep your barrel clean and dry. A pull squeegie, like the one shown here, works best when you take the barrel off. Some players prefer the fluffy stick squeegies, not really a squeegie at all, because you can clean the barrel during play without removing it.

Paintball Oil

A paintball gun operates on high pressure CO2 or compressed air. Orings (and seals) keep all that pressure going in the right direction. Sooner or later your gun is going to spring a leak. You can make it later rather than sooner by keeping your paintball gun properly lubed. Every time you attach a tank to your gun you should place 5 or 6 drops of paintball gun oil into the adapter that holds the tank. This insures oil will make its way to the guns valve, keeping the orings from drying out. Higher end electronic tournament guns cycle so fast that they need paste lube. Always refer to your owner's manual.

Paintball Oil
Important!

PAINTBALL GUN OIL! Not gun oil or WD40 or Break Free or Vaseline or some other something else. Orings will literally melt if you use the wrong oil. Paintball gun oil found at your paintball pro-shop is what you need. In a pinch you can use air tool oil.

Tank Orings

Tank orings are the first to go - no matter how well you take care of you gear. The tank oring is found at the top of the brass valve on your CO2 tank or at the top of the regulator on high pressure tanks. They take a beating, especially CO2 tank orings. If CO2 or high pressure air immediately starts blowing out around the tank threads chances are you have cut a tank oring. Having plenty around will keep you in the game.

Paintball Chronograph

If you and your friends are going to skip the commercial paintball field and, instead, play in your backyard please, please, please consider buying one of these. It is essential to know the speed (velocity) paintballs are leaving your barrel. To slow and the ball will bounce. To fast and you're going to knock your opponent to the ground and they are going to get up with an attitude. Worse yet, you could seriously hurt someone. I would NEVER play against an opponent if I did not know the velocity of his gun.

Safety Gear

The mask is your most important piece of safety gear but there are other vulnerable parts that need protecting. Shots to the fingers can be particularly painful as well as hits to the neck. A few inexpensive safety items can make your experience more enjoyable.
