This powerful teaching can help to transform the lives of women; young and old alike. God speaks loudly and clearly to tell women that they are not less than men. They can be strong, courageous, and very wise; and still be gentle, quiet, and humble. That is to say that using our feminine wiles is not just for the bedroom. God has blessed women in a way that most people will never see. If you dare, go through this Bible study and find out what God really means by "help meet."
Has anyone ever given you a prophetic word?
The Bible tells us not to "quench the Spirit. We are suppose to test the spirits. Do the words we are hearing line up with what the Word of God says? Tell us about your experience.

- Beth Moore does some excellent now relevant studies. The daily homework kicks my tail...one day in hers is more than one week on most studies you will do with a group. Have not done this one by Beth Moore, but did do the Breaking Free and Heart Like His (David) Our family just read Esther. I was impressed again how women had very little empowerment in those days, she was brave in her poverty.

Beth Moore Bible Study Examined
In this bible study, Beth Moore breaks down for us, in easy bite-sized pieces, how the Book of Esther relates to our everyday situations and challenges. She allows us to peak into the palace of King Xerxes in a way that most Bible readers have never fathomed. Though this book of the Bible is named after a woman, there is a tremendous amount of revelation about men and the character of God. It's amazing how much women will give up, to get the life they think they want. The Book of Esther explores the life of a young women who decided that instead of pursuing the "good life," she would surrender to her destiny. By doing that she ended up with more than the "good life;" she would gain the keys to the kingdom. Who was the older relative of Hadassah?

Queen Esther
It's tough being a woman. The young women in the Book of Esther had to give up relationships; some of them were "in love," engaged, planning on a family, uninterested in the affairs of state and in the King, in particular. What they gained was all of life's luxuries and the promise of a shot at being the Queen. Of course, if they don't make it, they didn't get to go back home. They became property of the king and are held as concubines for the king's pleasure. A concubine is a woman residing in a harem and kept for sexual purposes. Might these purposes be with men other than the king? Remember they have become property.
Would it be worth it to give up your entire life for one night with the king?

Yes, although there is a lot of risk, the rewards are worth it.

Who was Hadassah/Esther?

Hadassah, commonly known as Esther, was an incredibly wise young woman. Having been placed into this enormous cattle call for young virgins, she did not get all giddy and think she was "all that" for having been chosen. Rather, she decided that it made sense to take her cues from her mentors.
Mordecai, her cousin had brought her up as his own daughter. Hegai was an eunuch who worked for King Xerxes in the palace. Both Mordecai, her adopted father, and Hegai, her royally appointed keeper, advised her in the nuances of diplomacy and political correctness. She listened and responded to their wise counsel with grace and humbleness. Not only did she win the favor of the king, but....

The Message of Esther
The Message of Esther By: David Firth

By any assessment, Esther is a rather strange book to find in the Bible. Not only is it, along with Daniel, the only book of the Bible to be set entirely outside of the Promised Land, it also shows no interest in that land. More than that, Esther is the only book in the Bible which definitely does not mention God.
None of this should be taken as meaning that the book has no theological intention--on the contrary it has a developed theology, but it is a theology which operates precisely because it does not mention God directly. In this volume in the Bible Speaks Today commentary series, David Firth explores this paradoxically important book and its implications for our own contemporary context, where the reality of God's presence is experienced against a backdrop of God's relative anonymity and seeming absence.
