Skin Care Student

Esthetician Student

As an esthetician student, I was looking for a book I couldn't find. I wanted a book that answered my skin care questions without being too technical. "Skin Care Student Q and A" is the book I was looking for while still in school and never found.

As a licensed esthetician, I find that the basics are something you need to learn and learn well. When you have a full understanding of what you are being taught, it all falls into place.

Esthetician students now have a book they can turn to. "Skin Care Student Q and A" makes a great supplement to your textbook. It breaks down what you are learning into basic and easy to understand ideas. It also offers lists, resources and charts. Imagine not having to gather bits
and pieces of information from numerous places. That has been done for you!

Esthetician students now have a book designed just for them! It will help you finish school, prepare for your state boards, and help get you prepared for that first esthetician job!

Skin Care Analysis

Incredible Detailed book on Skin Care Analysis

I remember in school, I had the hardest time in the beginning understanding skin care analysis. Would I get it? Would I be able to differentiate? After you get used to seeing enough faces, you'll recognize it much faster. I wrote a short article about skin types and conditions here.

If there was one book I'd point to on Skin Care Analysis, the absolute best book and with the most detail came to me not from the US, but from over seas. I remember when I first saw the book, Advanced Skin Care Analysis, and I hesitated, because it was going to cost $95. It took me months to finally purchase it, and had I known what an incredible book it would turn out to be, I would have bought it much sooner. This is an EXCELLENT book on skin care analysis!

If you're going to buy a book, add this one to your list! I highly recommend it.

Learning Ingredients

Ingredient Dictionary for Estheticians

Learning ingredients is one of the most vital aspects of esthetics. You must understand what properties cosmetic ingredients have so you also understand what reactions may be. While there are a lot of different ingredients to learn, you'll start to recognize many as being in multiple products. I can't stress enough how handy the Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary is!

For a list of ingredients, you can go here.

Try Different Brands Before Deciding on One

One of the great things about being in school, is often times you get to sample different product lines and brands. If you didn't have that opportunity, a great way to do that is by getting sample or trial sizes of brands to see what you like. What products will you be using in the spa? It's important to be familiar with multiple brands, and ingredients.

What About Rosacea?

As a person with Rosacea since my thirties, skin care became something I wanted to learn more about. I hadn't planned on going to esthetics school until my thirties. I grew to appreciate the desire and want great skin. My once clear and glowing skin had taken on a red, flushed and aggravated condition. This is a picture of Rosacea flared.

You can read an article I wrote about Rosacea here. Understanding Rosacea will be important when it comes to getting an esthetician job!

Benefits of Mineral Make-Up

You can read an article I wrote about the Benefits of Mineral Make-Up here.

It's basic and written for everybody, but you may find it useful. I also wrote it as a user. With Rosacea, mineral make-up has been helpful in offering coverage.
