Ethiopian Cuisine

type=textEthiopia has a diverse, interesting cuisine. Most food is eaten with injera, a sour, soft kind of flatbread. This is made of teff, a small grain that only grows in that region - and in America! There is very spicy food, where they use a special blend of chilipeppers and spice called berbere. But there is also plenty of dishes without any chili. They eat lot of vegetarian dishes, since their religion forbids meat on a regular basis.
In short- there is something for everybody! Ethiopian cuisine is rich and tasty, well worth trying!

Coffee- a whole ceremony!

type=textI guess coffee should have been grouped together with the food, but we are not only talking about making a cup of coffee! Read about the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, where the concept of time disappears. In Ethiopia coffee even grows wild, so why is there a shortage? This and more you will find here.

The people of Ethiopia

type=textThe people of Ethiopia are very interesting. There is a big difference in culture between north and south, sometimes between one village and another. The Hamer people of the south differ from the Highlanders in the north.

Famous Ethiopians

There are many Ethiopians who are famous, both from the past and the present. Do names like Haile Selassie, Derartu Tulu and Haile Gebreselassie ring a bell? Probably. But we also look at others. The subject has been divided - male and female!
Finally I have also included the great artist Maitre Afewerk Tekle, who has been creating art for decades. His work is loved by people all over the world.

Become younger

13 months of sunshine

Ethiopians have a different concept of time. This is not only to imply that they are often late for appointments, but they actually have a completeley different way of counting time. When going to Ethiopia, you will become seven to eight years younger- according to their calendar!
