Etsy Goes Natural

Ever since I was a child, I have loved nature, animals and making things. At first I would draw and color pictures for my Mom and Dad. As I got older, they encouraged me to paint, knit, crochet, do needlework and work with any art medium that was available.
 

One of my favorite Christmas gifts was a Jon Gnagy art set. It was just like the one that he used on the Saturday afternoon television show that I watched each week. I still have some parts of that set and now, 40 years later, I continue to use the skills that I learned on those Saturday afternoons and those from my parents.
 
 

Nature is the theme of our Etsy Shop, as it has been mine for most of my life. When I was growing up, if I wasn't drawing or working on crafts inside, I was outside planting things and helping in the garden. In rural Louisiana 4-H club projects were a big part of most young peoples lives and I was no different. My favorite projects were Home Grounds, Crafts, Sewing, Gardening and Baking.

Today I have so many hobbies and interests that I find it necessary to cycle through them. Currently, in the "art" department, I am working on crochet, jewelry making, holiday adornments and decorations, quilting, photography and oil/acrylic painting. I also have created painted designs on apparel and have done applique, too. Through the years, there weren't many types of arts and crafts that I didn't try.

I really enjoy creating objects of art and the Etsy store has given me an outlet for my work. Many of my creations focus on nature and the earth. I like the blues, greens, browns and deep reds of the earth, water, sky and flora of our wonderful Mother Earth. I also love the deep purples and shades of pink of a sunset. Native plants and native animals are one of our (me and my husband's) favorite subjects. I get inspiration from the lovely Tchefuncte River that runs through our property and the mature Pine and hardwood forest that borders it.

The culture of Louisiana is unique. We are a people who love to celebrate, so many of my creations are related to the many celebrations that we have here in South Louisiana. I design things for Mardi Gras, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentine's Day and a few other holidays and celebrations.

Even if you can't come down to the Big Easy to experience a New Orleans Mardi Gras, you can let the good times roll where you live with our festive jewelry. Mardi Gras colors are purple, gold and green and the rule of thumb for Mardi Gras is the more outrageous, the better.

I have always lived in harmony with the earth. I grew up on a large ranch in North Louisiana and spent much of my childhood exploring the forests and fields. Animals were my friends and my companions and I began to help in the garden at an early age. I love the earth and I think that my designs reflect that love and respect.

Each of our jewelry items are packaged in a ziplock plastic bag and are wrapped in tissue paper and mailed in a bubble wrap envelope by first class mail. We will use Priority Mail if the customer requests it and includes the additional fees in their payment.

The quilts and afghans are wrapped in tissue paper, boxed and are sent by first class mail.

We will gift wrap any item if the customer requests it. Just email us to let us know.
