The Euro 2012 Championships will be jointly hosted by Poland and Ukraine. It is the third time the tournaments will have been held in 2 countries, the other occasions being Belgium & Holland in 2000 and Austria & Switzerland in 2008.
It is also the final tournament with 16 teams as from 2016, the finals will be expanded to 24 teams. As hosts, Poland and Ukraine automatically qualify for the finals. Poland have only appeared once in the finals (2008) whilst it will be the first time Ukraine have been involved since the breakup of the USSR.
