Jury vs Televoting

Why do we need it?

This year the European Broadcasting Union has announced that the semi-finals will be decided based on both jury votes and televoting. What do you think about this? Tell us why!

Are you happy with the new Eurovision jury voting? Why?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes! Great idea!

smange says:

Yes! Sometimes the voting just gets far too political. Maybe the jury can balance that out with votes purely on the performance.

No way! Televoting should be the only method!

Eurovision Parties & Terry Wogan

The cult of Eurovision

Picture courtesy of Eurovision - Stock Pictures from 2009In Australia there's a small subset of people who are fans of Eurovision (despite the obvious distance from Europe). Those of us who love Eurovision try to get together for Eurovision parties, watching the delayed telecast on Sunday evening (Australia time). This telecast used to have the fabulous Terry Wogan (see this lens on Terry Wogan) commentating throughout, which was at times quite harsh and often pretty damn funny. We realise that he's not always politically correct, but we took it as jest and left it as that. Graham Norton is now the commentator for the delayed telecast. It's not the same, but he's less likely to upset people, that's for sure!

How will you celebrate Eurovision?

Tell us your plans!

There's all sorts of different ways to party for Eurovision. What are you going to do?

Bring back the Eurovision orchestra?

Do we want an orchestra?

A Facebook group called "The Norwegian Radio Orchestra for Eurovision 2010 - Bring back live music!" has started a minor controversy in the Eurovision world. The organisers have not as yet shown any enthusiasm for bringing back the Eurovision orchestra, but the Norwegian Radio Orchestra is reportedly keen to participate if needed. Question is, do we want it?

Should Eurovision bring back the orchestra?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yeah! The orchestra rocks!

What? No, let the performers use whatever music suits them!

Interesting lens! I usually enjoy watching the Eurovision Song Contest; unfortunately this year I was out so was unable to watch the UK come last... hopefully next year I won't be busy on Eurovision night!
