The Eurovision Song Contest Page
The Eurovision Song Contest has been one of my guilty pleasures for around thirty years. It is one of those annual events you either love to watch, or avoid like the plague. There is no middle ground with Eurovision.
Those living outside Europe and its surrounding area tend to know little about this song festival that has grown from fourteen participating countries in 1956 to approximately forty in recent years. Over this time, for better or for worse, it has become a television and musical tradition about which many have an opinion.
I admit I am a fan, but not essentially because of the songs, but because of the competitive nature of the event. Rooting for your own country and watching the points stack up (or not) has always been a big part of the Eurovision Song Contest.
A friendly, but partisan, rivalry between countries which I hope will either introduce you to the event or bring back memories of Eurovision's past.
