Eurythmics: Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This
One of the defining bands of the Eighties pop scene was Eurythmics. Annie Lennox
has, perhaps, one of the most sublime and uplifting voices of any female singer over the last twenty five years.
It came as something of a surprise to learn that a quarter of a century has passed since we first heard that powerfully sequenced synth bass line and watched the striking video to Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) which introduced the infamous orange crew cut of Annie Lennox. Yes, it was 1983, when Michael Jackson, Culture Club, David Bowie and The Police were also doing their thing and MTV had not long started to bring 24 hour music into American homes.
Over that time, many of the popular acts from this era have faded from view, but Annie Lennox's unique voice has continued to thrill fans around the world, either as a solo artist or as part of the incomparable Eurythmics.
So sit back and enjoy a journey back in time to the 1980s (and beyond) with the sound of Eurythmics.
