My Favorite Evanescence Songs - Not Just For Goths

Ranked #9,061 in Music, #246,880 overall

Amy Lee's Voice Is Awesome

Evanescence is an American goth band established in 1995 by singer, Amy Lee, and guitarist, Ben Moody. The band released their first album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Worldwide it sold more than 15 million copies, which led to Evanescence winning two Grammy Awards. Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, a year later. Their second studio album, The Open Door, was released in 2006.

The Evanescence band has lost musicians several times. Often temporary band members were needed to complete tour performances. Eventually there was a hiatus. Idle rumors of the band breaking up ran rampant when former Evanescence members Ben Moody, John LeCompt, and Rocky Grayafter formed the goth band, We Are the Fallen. Amy Lee disclosed in an interview that she has no thoughts about We Are the Fallen and adds "it doesn't have anything to do with me or Evanescence".

Amy Lee also issued a statement saying that Evanescence is working on new material that she's very excited about. "I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music in the second half of 2010."

I'm not a goth, but the haunting music of Evanescence is fantastic! It gives me goosebumps. I can't wait for their new album to come out!
