Evanescence is originally from Little Rock Arkansas. Founded in 1995 by (Vocalist/Pianist) Amy Lee and (Guitarist) Ben Moody. The band has won two Grammy awards!

Their debut album Fallen, was released in April of 2003 and was a huge success and has sold more than fifteen million copies. The Open Door was their second album, and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month!

The bands two hits "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" led to two 2003 Grammy Awards (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance for "Bring Me To Life"). Evanescence sold nearly 14 million albums worldwide, Fallen spent more than 100 weeks on Billboard's Top 200 chart.

Thier 2004 live DVD release Anywhere But Home, has sold over one million copies to date!

4/4/11- Evanescence is heading for the Studio!! Yay!

Evanescence is going into the studio on April 11 to begin recording its third studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose recent producing credits include Foo Fighters, RUSH, Stone Sour, Deftones and Alice in Chains.

After much anticipation, Amy Lee confirmed that Evanescence is in fact going into the studio to work on their third studio album with Grammy Award Winning producer Steve Lillywhite. The band's new album is scheduled for a late Fall 2010 release date.

Amy Lee is now the only original member of Evanescence left who has been in the band since the release their 2003 album, Fallen.

John LeCompt the bands guitarist has left the band and its not clear weather he was fired or if he decided to move on. And, the bands drummer Rocky Gray left the band recently, making them the latest members to leave the band. The original guitarist/ co-founder Ben Moody left in 2003, and bassist William Boyd quit last June after three years in the band.

Amy said that "Evanescence is still alive and well on the official Evanescence website. http://www.evanescence.com/. John and Rocky were members of Evanescence for four years and said that they shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so they have parted ways. Evanescence is something I have loved and nurtured since I was 14 said Amy, and I will continue to protect and fight for it as I always have."

Amy said that she and guitarist Terry Balsamo , and bassist Tim McCord are "very excited to play live with some amazing new musicians and we will rock harder than ever."

Amy did not say who would replace LeCompt and Gray, but did promise that no dates on the group's current tour will be canceled. The band is scheduled to play the Rock on the Range hard rock festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 19 and co-headline the Family Values tour this summer.

Evanescence has had numerous lineup changes, and released "The Open Door" to critical acclaim back in 2006. It only took a few months for the album to go platinum with over a million in sales.

Amy Lee, who remains the only original member of Evanescence, continues to express her creativity in other projects and outlets while the band continues their hiatus from the road and the studio. Just recently Amy revealed one of her dreams as a young girl, besides being in a rock band was to score music for films. So can Lee's fans expect to see her scoring films in the future? I hope she will, because I know she is talented enough to do so.

Evanescence has a certain sound of drama in their music - Amy delivers a passion when she sings that can grip your soul. The lyrics in the music have a connection with their fans that show feelings like searching for identity, desire and loss.

Amy studied classical piano for 9 years, and is quite an accomplished pianist. On another note (no pun intended) Amy also has another instrument and that is her amazing voice. When she sings she brings you into the song and you feel the feelings that are portrayed in the lyrics. I feel that there are not too many singers that can do that. She is truly gifted.

The all around sound of the band has classical piano mixed with aggressive metal guitar riffs which is very unique and very appealing,a mystical sound of rock, goth and classical music, and strangely they go together fantastically!

The guitar riffs that are played are hammering guitars and have a metal music sound!
