Clip Art, Borders and Dividers for use on Squidoo

The use of borders, dividers and clip art is a fun way to give your lens that little extra something. Use them to break up long sections of text to make your lens more readable. They can make your lens flow better and appear more visually appealing. I've really enjoyed collecting them and now I am sharing them with you. Everything here is either from public domain sources or made by myself so you are free to use them in any way you wish without worry about copyright issues. If you use some of these dividers on your lens, please leave your link in the plexo below. We'd all like to admire your handiwork!
Are you wondering how to use these borders on your lenses? I'm going to tell you! First you need to open an account at a place such as Photobucket, Imageshack, Flickr or any place where you can "host" your images. I like to use Photobucket but you can use whichever one you like. It is free to open an account.
After you have a place to host your images you are ready to begin. Right click on the image you want and save it to your computer. Name it so you'll be able to find it. Maybe make a new folder just for borders and dividers.
Go to Photobucket (or whichever one you have chosen) and upload the image.

Here is the HTML for use in a text/write module:
<p align="center"><img src="url of image you want to display" /></p>

Copy and paste the HTML into a text/write module and insert the information for your image.
That's it! See? It's not too hard.

One big advantage Photoshop professionals have always had was the understanding of channels. It was their secret weapon, and it enabled them to do things, and work in an entirely different way than their competitors, and maybe that's why the secret power of Photoshop's channels has been such a closely guarded secret. Until now.

Award-winning, bestselling author Scott Kelby (Editor of Photoshop User magazine) shows you how to unlock the power of Photoshop's Channels and really start using Photoshop like a pro. But this isn't a book of theory and technical explanations, this is a step-by-step project-based book that will teach you exactly how to the pros use channels in their everyday work (Using channels is one of the secrets they use to get twice the work done in half the time).

The Big Book of New Design Ideas (Paperback)

The Big Book of New Design Ideas

Amazon Price: $8.83 (as of 02/17/2012)Buy Now

How do creative people create?Where do they get their ideas? For many, "brainstorm" sessions are a starting point. But huge numbers of creative people go through creative annuals or other books showing large amounts of work by top creative people. (Author David Carter calls this process "solitary brainstorming.") The Big Book of New Design Ideas was created for this specific purpose. Each piece was selected based on its potential to trigger an idea in the mind of the reader. Look at the logo section: you'll see a lot of different techniques there. Suddenly, you see a logo that "triggers" an idea. And that idea may have nothing at all to do with the one you just saw. That's pretty much how this book works. For everybody who uses the works of others to inspire their own ideas, this book is the one that should be on the shelf.

Design Elements: A Graphic Style Manual

Design Elements: A Graphic Style Manual

Amazon Price: $15.58 (as of 02/17/2012)Buy Now

This book is simply the most compact and lucid handbook available outlining the basic principles of layout, typography, color usage, and space.

Being a creative designer is often about coming up with unique design solutions. Unfortunately, when the basic rules of design are ignored in an effort to be distinctive, design becomes useless. In language, a departure from the rules is only appreciated as great literature if recognition of the rules underlies the text. Graphic design is a "visual language," and brilliance is recognized in designers whose work seems to break all the rules, yet communicates its messages clearly.

This book is a fun and accessible handbook that presents the fundamentals of design in lists, tips, brief text, and examples. Chapters include Graphic Design: What It Is; What Are They and What Do They Do?; 20 Basic Rules of Good Design; Form and Space-The Basics; Color Fundamentals; Choosing and Using Type; The World of Imagery; Putting it All Together?Essential Layout Concepts; The Right Design Choices: 20 Reminders for Working Designers; and Breaking the Rules: When and Why to Challenge all the Rules of this Book.
