Event Horizon: Sci-Fi Horror At Its Best
Event Horizon Movie Review
The Players: The Crew of The Lewis and Clark: Captain Miller played by Laurence Fishburne, Dr. William Weir played by Sam Neill, Med Tech Peters played by Kathleen Quinlan, and of course your usual spaceship crew ruffians.
What's Going On?: Miller and his crew once on board the Event Horizon playback the last log of the ship. Through the distorted video images, the Lewis and Clark team watch the members of the Event Horizon slaughter each other and even see one crew member gauge out his eyeballs, hold them up to the camera and say "We won't need these anymore...". After watching this last video, the crew realize they are not alone on the ship and a series of events start to happen, while one by one the Lewis and Clark team are slaughtered. The survivors then begin to realize that it is the ship itself that is killing them off....The rest you must watch for yourself.
Event Horizon borrows a lot of its ideas from sci-fi movies and horror film, movies like The Shining, Alien, and Hellraiser,. Think of this movie as sorta like The Shining, where instead of a haunted hotel to deal with you have a spaceship. This movie doesn't just tell you what's going on, it shows you in pieces of the craziness...it's evil, but just how evil is it? This film let's your imagination go wild. It is not until the film is almost over to where you actually find out what happened to the original crew. The end is also up to your own imagination.
