Scary Movies: Everything Old is New Again

Ranked #39,862 in Entertainment, #459,615 overall

Nostalgic or Despondent?

I'm not sure if I feel nostalgic or despondent when I look at the upcoming movies sections of the websites I visit. I loved the 80's, but after 20 years do I really need Ghost Busters 3? Or Friday the 13th part 52?

The World did not need Beverly Hills cop the first time around, do we really need another sequel? Really?

Another Star Trek movie. Who is this aimed at? Basement dwellers? Are Trekkies still out there?

Looking Back

Some things do deserve a look back. I am Legend was a rethinking of The Last man on earth.
This movie had and has purpose that needed to be brought to a new generation.

The movie makers today seem to be more focused on striking gold in a mine that's run dry.

Aside from the scary costumes and horror scenes of many of the remakes, these movies are the same old movie we've already seen many times over.

Just make good movies. We'll pay to see them. Have good ideas. Have FRESH ideas.

Don't make them just hoping to relive the former moneymaking boom that you may have had 20 years ago.

Even new movies are just rehashing old ideas.
GI Joe, Transformers, The Marvel Comics movies like The Hulk and Iron Man.

Movies May Be Our Escape

In times of recession, the movies may be our one escape.

Make it mean something, give us something fantastic to spark our imagination.
Something uplifting to give us cause to carry on.

Don't give us the mindless drivel of Sex in the City.

Don't give us another regurgitation of the Terminator or Alien vs. Predator.
