You have been lied to!

So you are looking for an example of a low fat diet because you would like to lose weight, right? Perhaps a friend or a TV ad told you that fat is actually making you fat and you should stop eating fat containing foods. Well, then I have to tell you the truth ... sadly all about low fat diets is a lie! In this report I'm going to tell you why and what will really work for you!

Example of a low fat diet - Myth #1

Eating as much low fat food as you like

While consuming low fat food is generally healthy, you can not expect to lose weight if you go crazy and eat everything labelled as low fat food. It is a fact that low fat food contains low fat but not low calorie! Well, that's the bad news ... Most people who go on low fat diets still eat things like chocolate, cookies or low fat chips because they are marked low fat. Their low fat diet plan tells them that this is ok, so they can eat as much as they like and still lose weight, right? Wrong! The calories in these foods will sum up tough!

So what do we learn from that? It is not only about the fat content but about all the ingredients in food. Fat, carbs and proteins are all energy in form of calories!

Example of a low fat diet - Myth #2

Avoiding all kinds of food high in fat

Whether or not fat is ok for your diet really depends upon the type of fat contained. While food high in saturated fat or trans fat are a no-go, foods high in polyunsaturated fats are good for lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) and raising HDL (good cholesterol). So instead of eating low fat foods, you should focus on eating the right kind of fat and consuming food that will give your body the nutrients it really needs.

You might be surprised that these kinds of fat will actually be of benefit for your body because they help absorb vitamins, including vitamin A, D, E and K out of your food. Foods containing these good fats are olives, peanuts and canola. A fat probably known to you is Omega-3-fat, found in walnuts, dark green vegetables and oily fish like salmon and tuna. This is what is good for you! But, like everything else, only in moderation! :)
