Examples of Photography Poses
Using my personal views, I want to educate you on what I feel makes good photography poses.
Examples of Photography Poses - The "One Hand on Hip" Pose
As examples of photography poses go...this is a really good one. This one will work for men as well as women.
Bending the elbow and placing one hand on the hip, and letting the other arm fall down. One shoulder higher than the other. Balancing the weight primarily on one leg.
For men in this pose, I like to have that second hand curved in towards the body.
For women I like just naturally hanging down straight, or pressing against the outer thigh with fingers spread a little, and following the shape of the body.
Examples of Photography Poses - The "Chin Up" Pose
If you look at the graphic to the right, you will see a woman with her chin raised, head up... I like this type of head pose to give the illusion of the model looking off into the distance. With the body positioned not fully to the front, but a little off to the side, and the head up and leaning more to the side. Squinting the eyes just a little.
This is also a good pose for a seated model as well as a standing one.
Examples of Photography Poses - Movement
One of the hardest examples of photography poses may be movement. It can be very difficult to actually "pose" a model for movement. It may be best to get them to actually do the movement in as slow motion as possible while actually maintaining proper action.
If your model(s) can manage this, you have a good chance to capture the movement naturally as it is happening.

Human Figure Poses

Child Photography Poses

Getting child photography poses can be tricky business. The younger they are, the harder this can be. Photographing children can take a lot of time and patience, but is most rewarding when you accomplish your goals.

- I have just come from one of your other photography posing sites/cells. I urge anyone on this page to read the piece on The "Chin Up" Pose because not many photographers mention this. In fact, I had forgotten about it until I saw it above. On the subject of photography poses, I have an article which also assists with photography posing tips and includes a video at the link below - photography poses. Hope it's of use to someone.
