Need Exercise For Love Handles? Look No Further!

Is it a certain age when we start calling them 'love handles'? I don't know but they sure are a pain to get rid of.

Maybe that's 'cause there's no direct exercise for love handles (geek term is 'obliques'). You have to do lots of other exercises and pray your love handles are taking notice!

I've put a few different techniques you can try below, but there's nothing beats a good overall weight management system to keep these beasts in trim.

Have I got a good weight management system? You betcha! Although not actually mine but I use it every day, my health actually depends on it!

My Exercise For Love Handles

Side burns...no sorry, that would be side bends!

I do side bends every day. This helps me stretch and maintain my love handles at the right size, which is actually as small as possible!

There are lots of different methods for doing side bends and I dare say there are a whole host of expensive exercise gizmos to do them on.

Do you need an expensive set of equipment? No, but it's nice to have the spare cash to buy one!

A simple method is a broom handle or a walking stick! Hold it in both hands above your head and bend from side to side.

I myself am the victim of attempted murder, so I do them differently. When I say 'attempted murder' I actually mean a motorcycle tried to kill me.

When I say a motorcycle tried to kill me I actually mean I was riding it at the time of the "attack".

I managed to come out of the attack with only a badly damaged and permanently useless right arm. Lucky really as I was left handed!

Strange how the authorities deem this "attack" as an accident (or crash), I myself see it as a direct attempt on my life!

I digress. As a result of this "attack" I tend to do my sidebends by holding my right arm straight up and bending from side to side. Seems to work for me.

Side Bends As Exercise For Love Handles?

But how many? And how often?

Now, there's a sixty four thousand dollar question.

I do mine when I jump out of bed on a morning. When I say 'jump' out of bed my wife would describe this as more of a slow slide.

As you (and your muscles) are quite warm when you first get up it's an ideal time to do a bit of exercise. This way you lessen the risk of a pull or strain. Muscles work better when warm. Muscles cry foul when cold.

I do twenty bends each side, then repeat. It may be right, it may be wrong. It seems to work for me.

This guy is clearly expert at abdominal exercises!

This video demonstrates just how safe and value for money these machines are. His next piece of exercise equipment may well have been a wheelchair!

Exercise For Love Handles - The Simple Solution

It may look simple but it's still hard work!

This is what I would do if I wasn't doing it single handedly ;)

Stand with your feet about a foot apart. Get yourself a broom handle or pole of some sort. Even a walking stick or similar.

Hold this stick/pole/broom above your head with your arms about 2 feet apart.

Now, simply bend sideways as far as is comfortable. Do not stretch too far, it won't do any good and you may well hurt yourself.

When you do bend sideways try to avoid any forward bending at the same time. Bends must be stricly sideways.

I do about twenty right bends and twenty left bends. I repeat this once or twice.

That's about it. Doesn't take long and doesn't stress you out too much.

Exercise For Love Handles Doesn't Counteract Overeating

You can't cheat!

If you do start a few exercises for your love handles then it doesn't mean you can eat more 'cause you burn off more calories.

That's just not the point. We want to lose weight, we want to eventually look like a Greek God, or Goddess depending on which way you bend.

While these exercises will help, they aren't a substitute for a good all round weight maintenance system. I say 'maintenance' 'cause once you've dropped a few pounds and are happy(ish) then you want to maintain your new found physique.

Me personally, I'm a bit obsessive compulsive and like to have a list of daily tasks I can tick off one by one.

My thinking is if I follow them strictly I can't fail to maintain my figure. At the moment it's working for me. I'm at a weight I like. I feel a thousand times better than before and can't ever see myself going back to being trapped in a fat suit.

I was forced into losing weight a while back when I bought a lottery ticket and won diabetes. Nope, sorry, the diabetes was free. I didn't win a bean with the lottery ticket.

Seriously though getting diabetes was a cloud with a silver lining. I had to make a lifestyle change almost overnight. I am now happy with my weight and I'm regularly monitored for any potential complications.

I discovered a system that works for me. It really is an all in one education package that has an online diet generator (really take the stress out of planning & preparing meals) and it panders to my obsessive compulsive side and lets me plan my day, tick my boxes etc.

The Serious Side Of Exercise For Love Handles

Upto now we've had a bit of fun but it's not all play

There is a serious side to weight loss and exercise.

I don't know, and probably never will, whether my weight was a contributing factor in me getting diabetes. Either way, finding out I had it made me **** myself bigtime.

I know before I was diagnosed I was a happy go lucky kind of guy. I never thought "IT" would happen to me, whatever "IT" was. But like many people I found out it can and did happen to me.

In fact coupled with my bike spill it happened to me twice in one lifetime. I hope I have better luck in the next life.

If you are here 'cause you feel a bit overweight then take a moment to think what you are possibly doing to yourself in the long term. It doesn't take an awful lot to change your ways and drop those excess pounds.

I know because I did it and it wasn't the end of the world. I was usually around 15 to 20 pounds overweight and it took me about six months after being diagnosed to lose that completely. I didn't go to the gym every day and pound weights. I didn't run marathons. In fact I didn't do a great deal differently than before.

What I did do was get myself a system in place that I could follow every day and I followed it. I ate sensibly, I exercised moderately and within a couple months or so I was dropping weight and knew that I could easily maintain it for the rest of my life.

You came here looking for exercise for love handles and you might even go away with a plan for life.

All it takes is a simple decision. Make it now and make my day.
