Healthy Eyes

One believes they are either born with healthy eyes or not. While genetics plays a great part in the health of our eyes, there are exercises one can perform to strengthen their eyes. Yes, just like any muscle, with exercise comes strength.

There are numerous exercises one can do to strengthen their eyes, we have just listed a few examples.

Exercises for Healthy Eyes

While many people practice yoga to improve health and fitness, not all traditional classes teach strategies to promote healthy vision and healthy eyes.

Individuals who want to help improve their eyesight may consider practicing the following dahn yoga exercises:

1. Clasp fingers together behind your head so that your elbows are pointing outward.

2. Inhale deeply and push your elbows backwards so that your chest rises and opens up.

3. Exhale and allow elbows to relax.

4. Now, do this same exercise while twisting the body toward the left and looking up.

5. Return to forward-facing position and repeat while twisting to the right.

In order to stimulate the eye directly, yoga practitioners can do the following:

1. Clap hands 10 times.
2. Rub hands together at a fast pace to create heat.
3. Cup hands and place one over each eye, making sure that no light passes through the fingers.
4. Inhale while imagining energy passing from the hands into the eyes.
5. Look up and exhale, and then look down and inhale again.
6. Using this same breathing pattern, open eyes wide and move them rapidly from left to right several times.
7. Now, move them up and down at a fast pace.
8. Slowly remove hands and open eyes.

I do "palming" occasionally and can testify to the fact that it is very soothing to the eyes. Can cause instant draining of the sinuses, as well. I've never tried it in conjunction with the additional steps you've outlined...but I plan to very soon.
