The city of Exeter is the county town of Devon in South West England.
It is situated on the River Exe, less than 10 miles upriver from the coastal town of Exmouth, and has a population of approx 110,000.
Bombed by the German Luftwaffe in World War II as part of the Baedeker Blitz, a large amount of the city was levelled and many historic buildings were destroyed or damaged, including Exeter Cathedral (above).
Large areas of the city were rebuilt in the 1950s.

Little Joe Otter was checking out your lens and liked it so well that he is sending you a virtual cup of coffee to hang on your wall. Posted May 02, 2008 |

I've never been to Exeter, just through it (on the way to Cornwall). Do you recoomend it? I recommend Chipping Campden, and Yorkshire. Cheers Posted December 13, 2006 |
