Longtime Expatriate
An Exapt Enjoying Asia and all it Offers
We become expatriates for a variety of reasons. Some of us move abroad due to an international transfer with our existing employer. Others, and I fall into this group, become expats because they want a change, a big change.
That was me back in 2000. I had a good position with a large Canadian company. I owned my own house, car, and many of the other trappings that make up a Canadian lifestyle these days. That lifestyle is not unique to Canada. Have a look across the border in the U.S. or any country in Europe.
Guess what? I was not happy. I needed and wanted more. I started to explore my options. After a few months of research I discovered that living abroad could be the answer and I was right. Since late 2000 I have called Asia home.
I have found one thing common to all expats (or almost all), and that is the need for information. There is so much we need to know when we are moving abroad, and once we arrive at our new "home away from home". An enormous amount of information exists on the Internet. Google the keyword "Expatriates", and a mind boggling ten million hits will be returned.
My goal is to bring some of that information together under one "roof", Expatriate Resources. I will be updating this page often, so do visit from time to time. If you like what you see, please rank my site, or link your site to mine.

- Some good resources here! I concentrate on the more social side for Kiwis and Aussies in America on my lenses but you've covered the general topic very well
