Expensive Art Work as High as 140 Million!
"Drip" by Jackson Pollock is currently the most expensive painting ever sold. You'll find many sources online quoting the sale of this painting at $140 million, but apparently the exact price has never been confirmed. There's no doubt, contemporary art can fetch a hefty sum!
The seller of the painting was David Geffen. He sold it in 2006 in a private sale - rumor has it, it was to a Mexican Businessman.
If you want to understand a little about why art is expensive, there's a brief and easy to understand explanation at A Beginners Guide to Understanding Art.

Expensive Egyptian Art

In my endless search for some of the most expensive ancient Egyptian art, I came across this sale by Christie's of Les Chadoufs, by Mahmoud Said that sold for a unprecedented $2.4 million.
Christie's had valued the price at approximately $200,000 US, however at $2.4 Million, it's safe to say "expectations were exceeded"!
Don't miss the full Collection of Art by Dr. Mohammed Said Farsi. Numerous pieces have realized sums in the hundred's of thousands of dollars.
