The Most Expensive Coffee in the World, also known as Kopy Luwak or Civet Coffee is a low production variety of coffee. Civet Coffee is made from the beans of coffee berries that have been consumed by Asian Palm Civet, also known as Toddy Cats, and other related breeds of civets, and then passed through its digestive tract. Civet eats coffee berries for its fleshy pulp. Coffee beans when pass through the digestive process in the stomach of civets produce more free amino acids, shorter peptides and release special enzymes into the beans.

Coffee beans defecated from civets do not change in shape, which are then gathered for thorough washing, sun drying, roasting and brewing. The beans obtained after this process contain the least bitterness amongst all the varieties of coffee found in the world and that is why, this coffee is known as the Most Expensive Coffee in the World. Civet Coffee, being the rarest coffee with a production of around 500 pounds every year, may cost above $150 a cup and that is the precise reason why it is called as the Most Expensive Coffee in the World.

Interesting, but I don't think I'll be looking for a cup of this coffee. The manufacturing process puts me off and so does the price.
