What is Lucid Dreaming?

Lucid dreaming is awareness in the dreaming state. Lucid dreams are described as more pronouced and centeral aspect of the dream state. Lucid dreamers are able to control and remember the dreams. To some dreaming is part of who we are. Lucid dreaming alllows us to "be god" and create what we want to create, experience or even destroy.

How to Induce Lucid Dreaming

Lucid Dream Induction Methods

While there are tons of induction methods, I will give you the steps needed to begin with and the top 3 most known lucid dream inducing techniques.

Okay, step one is an easy step. Thats recalling your dreams. Before you goto sleep tonite throughout the whole day say to yourself "I want to remember my dreams." Make the affirmation short and simple. When you wake you the next day write out what you have dreamed, this makes your dreams important to your mind and your mind will see to it that more dreams are remembered(if you had no dream its okay, affirm to yourself until you do.) Do this for a week to a month. If you get nothing after a month practie doing a meditation everyday.

Now on to step 2. The top 3 induction techniques are the Wake-Back-To-Bed Method(WBTB), Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams(MILD) and Incubating Dreams.

The wake Back To Bed Method invovles waking yourself up after 4 to 6 hours of sleep, get out of bed and stay up for anywhere between a few minutes to an hour before going back to bed. It's preferable that you do something related to lucid dreaming during this time (such as reading about lucid dreaming), but it is not required. This is best combined with other techniques; many people have amazing results with a MILD/WBTB combination. The WBTB technique significantly increases your chance of a lucid dream, and using MILD (see below) in conjunction with it puts you at good odds if you're planning to sleep an hour or more after your WBTB session. However, you might need plenty of sleep time and therefore you may only be able to use it on weekends.

The Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams means that as you're falling asleep, you concentrate on your intention to remember to recognize that you're dreaming. Repeat a short mantra in your head, such as "Next time I'm dreaming, I will remember I'm dreaming". Think about what this means and imagine that you're back in a dream you've had recently, but this time you recognize that you're dreaming. For example, imagine yourself flying and realizing that it's a dream because you're flying. Keep repeating and visualizing the mantra until you're sure that your intention is set in your mind or you fall asleep. If you stop repeating and visualizing the mantra, then still try to make sure the last thing in your mind before falling asleep is your intent.

Meaning and Purpose of Lucid Dreams

Interpretation

Interpretation of what your dreams mean is medium in difficulty. Psychologist try to offer a solution however, its your mind making this possible not there mind making it possible for you. So what you see in a dream has a different meaning than what someone else says. For example you see a cloud in the distance in your dream. Joe might think it means a good day while Jill thinks its going to turn into a storm and wreck havoc. Its still a cloud its what you percieve in the cloud is what the message is trying to tell you. Above are links to a couple of dream dictionaries in case you find it to hard to interpret yourself.
