Launch a Money-Making Lifestyle Business Based on What You Already Know
We are all experts in something. How do you take that expertise and create a six-figure, home-based, no-employees, money-making machine?
This Lens gives you an overview of the secrets of creating an "Expertpreneur" business, and links to additional resources to propel and inspire your journey.
What Is an "Expertpreneur?"
An Expertpreneur is an entrepreneur who takes what she already knows and creates a multimedia information empire, teaching expertise to the world via:- Blogs, Lenses, Articles, Website
- eZine, Special Reports
- Audio recordings, Video recordings
- Teleclasses, Events
- Forums, Mastermind Groups
- Coaching, Mentoring, Consulting
The area of Expertise can range from finance & law, to marketing, human resources, writing, speaking, parenting, to crafting. Everyone is an expert ... and that expertise can be leveraged into a successful six-figure lifestyle business.
Poll: Where are you on the Expertpreneur journey?
Is an Expertpreneur and an Infopreneur the Same Thing?
No.An Inforpreneur sells information. That information is packaged in various formats, similar to the Expertpreneur.
But the Expertpreneur is different. The Expertpreneur sells her Expertise, not just information. Her Expertise is the filter on the information, opinions, reviews, and general take on what you should do. The Expertpreneur does not just tell you what things you Could do, but what you Should do.
What the Expertpreneur is selling is inherently more valuable, and useful to the client ... and that client is willing to pay more money for that value.

But You're Not an Expert?!
Yes you are. You don't need a degree to be an expert - the word "expert" means someone who has experience, not someone who has the official "blessing" of an advanced degree or certification. But perhaps what you mean is that you don't see how your area of expertise is profitable, not like internet marketing or financial planning, for instance.
I know a woman who has successful expertpreneur business based on scrapbooking. She knows how to edit digital pictures and create digital scrapbooks, and has used that to create a multimedia empire, and is now Adobe's expert in digital scrapbooking.
Perhaps your area is a niche, only appealable to the few. But in a world with over 1 Billion people on the internet, if what you do only appeals to 1 out of 10,000 of them (or .0001%) , you have 100,000 potential customers out there. (Go get them!)
Once you learn how to be an Expertpreneur, you can do it over and over again. It only takes about 1 hour of study, 5 days a week, for a year to be a top expert in most (if not all) areas. And after the first month (if not earlier), you know much more than everyone else, and can start teaching your knowledge to others.

I love your feedback and questions! Thanks.

But You Want to Change the World (Not Make Money)
But you do have to eat. :)There is nothing wrong with making money while you share your expertise with the world. They are willing to pay for your knowledge ... let them.
If you are passionate about "giving" your knowlege away, you can structure your business as a Non-Profit, or even as a Co-Op like Squidoo -- charities and co-ops make money, but they distribute the money instead of keeping it for one person. If that's your inclination, go ahead. (And, heck, it's a great for PR ...)
