How to treat acne in adults
Acne can be treated easily
According to a most recent survey, about 75 percent of teenagers and young adults are suffering from acne. Adults who are between the ages of 30 and 40 also fight acne problems.
Acnes, blackheads and blackspots are the symptoms of increased activity of the sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands are responsible for the secretion of oil and these glands are abundantly present in our face apart from being present in lesser amounts all over our body.
Adults suffering from acne might also have blackheads. Blackheads are caused due to the skin pores being blocked. The excess skin pigments secreted by the sebaceous glands also cause the skin to become dark. Whiteheads which are another common condition of the skin for those who suffer from acne problems, appears near the surface of the skin. Whiteheads occur when the excess oil secreted by the sebaceous glands gets blocked inside the follicles.
Acnes can be treated appropriately and safely provided you understand the root causes of acne. The most important reasons for acne growth are bacterial growth, inflammation of the oil glands and changes within the hair follicles, which in turn cause the sebaceous glands to secrete excess oil.
Some common acne treatments :
1. Consult a qualified dermatologist. Depending on your skin type, your age, medical history, dietary preferences, etc a dermatologist would be in a much better position to suggest you the most simple of all medications that suits you and your body.
2. There are quite a few antibiotics and Vitamin A supplements which are available over the counter and have been proved to be effective in the treatment of acne. However, ensure that these medications do not spoil or irritate your skin by consulting a dermatologist.
3. Maintain enough physical hygiene. Use anti-bacterial skin soaps and keep the acne infected spots clean by washing them at least twice or thrice a day.
