What Do All of the Lenses Have in Common from the ExSquidition Travel Journal?

Criteria for the world travel destinations blog

So what is it that I look for in a great travel lens to be featured on the ExSquidition Travel Journal? All of the lenses have these qualities in common:

1. I like photos. Photos make a lens enticing, especially for travel. If it doesn't have enough photos, the reader many not have enough visual interest to keep on reading.

2. The lens will have original, not duplicate content information, added to the lens. The more of your own words, the better.

3. No default titles. Not even one. That means titles like "new guestbook" and "great stuff on eBay."

4. There's a Guestbook so I can contact the lensmaster.

5. The bio is complete, picture uploaded, description filled out.

6. The intro module is at least a few sentences long. Short introductions tell me that there's not much to see or read in that lens.

7. The affiliate/selling modules don't overwhelm the lens. Some is good, but stay on topic and sell only items related to the topic!

8. Stay on topic all the time. On your lens about Florida, don't talk about your cat Fluffy.

9. Lensmasters may contact me, or I might find them searching through Squidoo.

10. The lens is at least 4 or more modules long and easy to read. The content is divided into subtopics by module.

The Camera I Use for my Travel Photos

Lumix DMC-FZ50 - great for your vacations around the world!

I bought this camera two years ago, and I've been more than pleased with it. The best photos I've ever taken have been with this camera. I can't wait to take it more places. The 10.1 megapixels are more than sufficient for any photographer, and there are many easy go-to settings like the "landscape" and "snow" settings that you can turn to in just seconds to change your shutter speed. You can also change the focus to manual for close-ups, and the 12X optical zoom isn't bad either.

Panasonic DMC-FZ50 10.1MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)

Used Price: $399.00

* 10.1-megapixel CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality 18 x 24-inch prints
* 12x image-stabilized optical zoom; 2.0-inch free-angle LCD display
* Intelligent ISO Control (I.I.C.) reduces image blur from subject movement and low light
* Records full-size movies in wide-aspect VGA (848 x 480) at 30 frames per second
* Stores images on SD memory cards (32MB card included); powered by li-ion battery pack (battery and charger included)

What is the ExSquidtion Travel Journal?

The travel blog by Kiwisoutback

ExSquidition Travel Journal is all about the journeys of lensmasters on Squidoo. Where they've gone, where they'd like to go, or where they're about to visit. So far this year, you can read lenses about the Philippines, Mount St. Helens, the Oregon Coast, Zion National Park, County Cork Ireland, Joshua Tree National Park, some of the most famous beaches in the world, and lighthouses in Florida.

Each post, I'll highlight a different lensmaster (or two) and their lens on a particular travel destination.

    Great idea! There are so many good travel lenses on Squidoo. I would like to nominate two I just finished. Two Days in Oregon Wine Country - http://www.squidoo.com/vineyards-willamette-valley and Three Days in the Napa Valley - http://www.squidoo.com/tour-napa

    I hope you'll like my lens about Stonehenge and Nearby Prehistoric Sites - http://www.squidoo.com/stonehenge-and-sites . All of the places featured form a World Heritage Site. I believe that it's their proximity to each other that makes them important in their entirety.

    Wonderful! I'm glad you included Spook's lens, "A quiet, quite delightful little Ring" . . . I loved the photography on that one. Now I'm off to inspect your California Road Trip . . . to see what in our state you found worth visiting. 5* and an Angel blessing.

Reliable Luggage for your Next Trip

Don't go on a journey with cruddy luggage!

I learned the hard way on one of my vacations that you get what you pay for. Cheap luggage just doesn't last long. I bought a Samsonite luggage case that's very sturdy and haven't had any trouble since. I'd recommend getting one that's not too big, given all of the weight regulations for luggage they've implemented as of late.
