Extreme 4x4 Competitions

Unlike many people who buy their vehicle to drive on regular roads, a purchaser of a 4x4 usually has something different in mind. They like to have the freedom to drive on the road and drive where there are no roads to be found.

Sure, many people buy a 4x4 for such activities as hunting, camping, and fishing, but there are a select few that want a little bit more from their vehicle. Most of these drivers are looking for an experience that you just cannot find on a paved road, and they quite often put their vehicles to the test.

Many of them begin by trying out the many offroad trails found across the country. These offer both scenic views and driving challenges for those who venture on them. They are great for beginners to learn the limits of their 4x4 and better their driving skills.

But there are a few that decide to take it one step further and become extreme 4x4 enthusiasts. These select few put their driving skills to the test by testing their vehicle in the most extreme of conditions. You will find that people will try such things as rock crawling which often pits their vehicles against larger rocks, rougher terrain, and gravity.

Rock crawling is form of extreme 4x4ing where drivers put their vehicle to the test versus natural obstacles such as rock and gravity. It is characterized by drivers using modified 4x4s to traverse locations that can include boulders, mountain trails, and hazardous rugged terrain.

While some drivers choose to try these courses on their own, there are also competitions held each year where competitors compete on courses to pit themselves against natural obstacles.

To the untrained eye, it may seem to be the most extreme sport out there, but it is just one of the most challenging motorsports out there. It is the opportunity for spectators to see some of the best drivers tackle big challenges that we would never have the courage to attempt.

Over the past few years, it has become the spotlight of national media, and there are a number of publications that feature articles and pictures from the events.

Whether you watch rock crawling events regarding simple navigation of a rugged course, or 4x4s racing up an 80 degree incline, as far as extreme sports go, rock crawling is one of the best.
