Unlike many people who buy their vehicle to drive on regular roads, a purchaser of a 4x4 usually has something different in mind. They like to have the freedom to drive on the road and drive where there are no roads to be found.Sure, many people buy a 4x4 for such activities as hunting, camping, and fishing, but there are a select few that want a little bit more from their vehicle. These select few put their driving skills to the test by testing their vehicle in the most extreme of conditions. You will find that people will try such things as rock crawling which often pits their vehicles against larger rocks, rougher terrain, and gravity.

While some drivers choose to try these courses on their own, there are also competitions held each year where competitors compete on courses to pit themselves against natural obstacles.
To the untrained eye, it may seem to be the most extreme sport out there, but it is just one of the most challenging motorsports out there. It is the opportunity for spectators to see some of the best drivers tackle big challenges that we would never have the courage to attempt.
