Extreme Couponing Ideas - It doesn't have to be so extreme

Extrememe Couponing - Starting Small

We have all seen the TV show and the people who buy $300 dollars in grocery's and walk out of the store only having spent $6 or some other ridiculously small amount. I have sat there saying to myself that looks way to crazy and stressful. I mean how much time do these folks spend clipping all those coupons, reviewing the store flyers and coordinating the shopping list. That looks way too stressful for me. Or is it?

Curiosity eventually did set in for me and I had to give it a shot for myself. But I had to see if I could go into a store and walk out with items and spend no money. So long story short. I did it!! I bought $2 in items for nothing!!! I know, I know, what is the big deal about saving $2. It this situation it wasn't about the money savings as much as the experience and confirmation that it would work. Now that I had experienced it for myself I had to take it to the next level.

I am still learning and have a ways to go. But I am taking baby steps and slowly putting multiple techniques together and saving money. In the end isn't that what it is all about. Saving Money!!

Below are a couple of Extreme Couponing ideas that I use.
Power Couponer

Buy One Get One Free

BOGOThis is my favorite Extreme Couponing technique. Probably because it is pretty simple to do and was my first successful Extreme Couponing experience. This is the method I used in my in my big $2.00 savings I mentioned earlier. This method takes advantage of the buy one get one free sales often being offered by the stores and the grocery coupons I have clipped. In this scenario I took advantage of two coupons I had for sponges that where buy one get one free at the grocery store. If there was no buy one get one free being offered. These two sponges each would have had one coupon applied to the selling price. But since one of the items being purchased was technically going to be free. Both coupon values would now be applied to single item I was purchasing. Let's break it down.

Example:
Sponge #1 = $1.00
Coupon #1 = -$0.50
Sponge #2 = $1.00
Coupon #2 = -$0.50
BOGO Sale = -$1.00 (value of 1 sponge)
Total = $0.00 !!

One thing to note about this method, it must be a store sale and not a Buy One Get One free coupon. If it is a BOGO coupon this method will not work. So get those store flyers and look for those specials!!

Know Your Store Coupon Policy!

Knowing the coupon policy at your local stores is an important part of saving money! It will save you confusion and embarrassment at the checkout lanes.

Most stores have made it easy for you by posting their coupon policy online.

Love the Double Coupons!!

Double CouponYou got to love the Double Coupons and how helpful they can be. Double Coupons are exactly what they sound like. Some stores ether always or at certain times will double the value of the coupon you have in hand. So if you have a 50 cent coupon, it just became a $1 coupon.

I want to express to you that you should first understand the stores you shop at's policies regarding double coupons. Different stores in different regions have varying policies when it comes to handling double coupons. So be sure you understand that before you get to the check out and get surprised.
