Myths And Meanings Of Dragon Tattoos

A dragon is usually symbolized as a large powerful serpent or reptile with magical qualities in most cultures around the world. It is one of the few mythological creatures known in all four corners of the world and they inhabit the myths and legends of many cultures, ancient and modern. This makes dragon tattoos some of the most popular designs around the globe, with no other design known to make a more distinctive statement.

What Dragon Tattoos Mean To The Different Sexes

Dragon tattoos are immensely popular with both men and women. In men, the dragon tattoo symbolizes raw power and force, coupled with wisdom and reason. Men, like dragons, are considered to be the protectors of sacred items, such as riches and women, and men sporting these tattoos consider themselves to be the guardians of the things that are irreplaceable in their lives, such as their wives and children. Men normally place the tattoo on their back, arms, or legs.

On women, dragon tattoos can mean that they are the creator and protector of life. It is believed that dragons and women possess the same abilities of cunning thought, protection of the items they view as theirs, and the mystical properties of creating life. Women usually place their dragon tattoos on the shoulder, ankle, or foot.

Choosing The Right Fairy Tattoos

Fairy tattoos are often sported by women that consider themselves to be innocent and young at heart. For many people, fairies represent the magical and wondrous properties of the natural world personified into a small, beautiful creature. Fairies represent absolute good and in most literature, represent a triumph of good over evil. Very rarely are fairies depicted as evil or malicious. Fairies are found in the mythology of many cultures of the world and are the representatives of the beauty and innocence found in the world around us.

Fairy tattoos are far more common on women than men, for obvious reasons, and because of their generally small size, they are normally located on the shoulder, back, ankle, or calf of the women that sport them. Fairies are colorful and whimsical creatures with an infinite amount of design variations, making them easily customizable for different personalities. Because fairy tattoos are small, they can be some of the quickest and least painful designs available.

Customizing Your Fairy Tattoo

Fairies are commonly represented in art and literature, and many women use these designs as a jumping point to customize their own fairy tattoos. These fairy designs can be customized by color, hairstyle, clothing design, the possibilities are endless. The wealth of fairy designs available to be created as a tattoo almost guarantees that no two fairy tattoos will be the same.

How You Can Make Your Temporary Tattoos Look Real

You like the idea of getting a tattoo, but are not too sure you want one on your skin forever. You have tried the henna tattoos before, and so now you would like to try another non-permanent option. So, you have decided to try something that has been popular with kids for many years: you want to get a temporary tattoo.

About Temporary Tattoos

It used to be that temporary tattoos were things that you could get out of a vending machine at the grocery store. While this is still true, you can also now get temporary tattoos that really look as if they could be real.

If you have never gotten a temporary tattoo before, they are very easy to apply. Sometimes temporary tattoos come in a sheet, while other times they come separately. Either way, cut the design so that is the only part of the tattoo that remains, with none of the sheet particles on it.

The next thing you need to do is take off the plastic that is on the top of the tattoo. This is something that some people forget to do, and they move right on to the next step, thus ruining the tattoo.

When the plastic has been removed, the next thing you need to do is place the tattoo on the area that you would like to have it be on. At this time, you should also have a wet sponge available. Once you have found a place for the temporary tattoo and placed it on the skin, take the wet sponge and wet the tattoo so that it is completely damp.

Next, slowly slide the damp backing off, and the result should be a very realistic looking temporary tattoo! However, it should be noted that the less expensive the temporary tattoo, the more likely that it will quickly fade, so make sure you enjoy showing it off while it lasts!

There are many benefits to having temporary tattoos as opposed to real ones. The most notable thing is that they are much easier to remove and are thus safer. Indeed, soap and water is much easier than lasers!

For more information on temporary tattoos, all you need to do is search the internet. There are a variety of different websites that offer them for sale. They are relatively inexpensive, and they are, most of all, fun. You are sure to find the right temporary tattoo with the proper research.

Henna Tattoos Are An Impermanent Solution

Have you ever wanted to get a tattoo? Maybe you thought better of it, or maybe you didn't think you could handle the pain. The decision to get a tattoo is a big one, and it is permanent-so it is important to make sure that you really want a tattoo before you get one.

However, if you are just looking for an inexpensive and painless way to decorate your body, you should consider the art of henna tattoos. Henna tattoos originated in India, but they have recently made a comeback as a popular alternative to going under the needle. Henna tattoos could be the solution that you were looking for!

What Are Henna Tattoos?

Henna, which is also known as mendhi, is a tall plant that prospers in hot, dry climates; it is most commonly found in India, Egypt, Sudan, and other countries located in either North Africa or the Middle East. The leaves of this shrub-like plant are ground into powder, which is then made into a paste. This paste is used to make henna tattoos.

The henna paste leaves an orange-brown stain when it is applied to the skin, thus resulting in the tattoo-like effect. The tattoos are not permanent; they fade in about six weeks, or perhaps less. Also, the process is pain free-no needles!

Henna History

Indian women used to apply henna to their skin every day, except for widows, who would not wear the body art as a sign of mourning. Special henna designs would adorn the body on certain holidays and celebrations. For example, brides commonly wore henna because it was seen as a symbol of joy and life.

Henna Today

Today, many Indian and Middle Eastern cultures still use henna tattoos in their celebrations. However, henna has spread to Europe and the United States as an alternative to tattoos. Most commonly seen along beach boardwalks, there are now shops that will do the body art, for a price.

The alternative to having a henna tattoo professionally done is doing one yourself. You can obtain the materials to make henna paste and draw the design from an Indian Market or Indian Warehouse. You can even purchase a book full of traditional henna designs.

However, if you prefer to design your own henna tattoo, feel free to do so. It is common now to see small roses or butterflies in the form of henna art. The options when it comes to henna tattoos are unlimited, because it is gone in six weeks!

Dragonfly Tattoos For Women

There was a time when tattoos were almost always for men. If a woman had tattoos they were either biker girls or convicts with prison tattoos. They were looked down at because women just didn't do things like that. In the nineties, tattoos once again became popular and new tattoo shops opened up everywhere. Once it became popular with young people it was just a matter of time before women would once again have tattoos. Girls would get a tattoo during spring break. They would get a tattoo for many different reasons. Generally speaking, most tattoos that women get are not large and are usually located where others can't see it. This is done partly because it's sexy and partly because they don't want to look like a circus clown.

One tattoo that is popular with the ladies is a dragonfly tattoo. Some girls get one because their friends have one. Others may have personal reasons for picking a dragonfly tattoo. To understand why someone has a dragonfly tattoo, people first have to understand the dragonfly. Dragonflies are unique because they don't follow the crowd. They aren't like house flies that buzz along everywhere. A dragonfly is powerful with a lot of stamina and won't give up easily. They are stronger than other creatures and at the same time they are beautiful.

The Eternal Elegance Of Japanese Tattoos

Japanese letters are works of ancient art in ink and paper. They take years to learn and even longer to master, just like with any other art field. They elegantly dance into view like stalks of grass bending to the wind. They are a popular choice for Westerners who want a discrete, beautiful tattoo that won't change much over the years and is relatively quick for the artist to "draw" on. Some Japanese tattoos of calligraphy based on powerful words or your name can also be the most economical tattoo choices in terms of money and pain spent.

Just Letters?

There are more designs that tattoo artists might call "Japanese tattoos". These include designs of samurai, ninjas, Japanese temples or characters from the uniquely Japanese art form called "animae". But the calligraphy is one of the most popular of the Japanese tattoos.

Japanese calligraphy, called Shodo, comes in three acceptable "handwriting" styles. There is a blocky style (like print handwriting in English, called kaisho), a semi-cursive style (gyosho) and the full cursive style (sosho). So not only do you have to pick what is going to be said in your tattoo, but what style it should be in. You might also want the letters done in a different color, or have the calligraphy accompanies by other designs common to Japanese tattoos, like the flag or koi swimming in pond.

In The Stars-The Meaning Behind Zodiac Tattoos

Zodiac tattoos are a great way to express your personality-after all, what says more about you than your astrological sign? Each of the twelve zodiac tattoos is a unique symbol, and each represents character traits specific to your personality.

From Aquarius To Virgo-What Do Zodiac Tattoos Mean?

There are twelve zodiac signs, and each describes the personality of someone born during a different time of the year. You should base your decision about which zodiac tattoo to get on the following dates and descriptions that accompany each symbol.

The Aquarius tattoo is for people with birthdates within the range of January 20 through February 18. The symbol itself is typically a pair of zig zag horizontal lines, meant to represent water. Another common symbol of Aquarius is a man pouring water out of an urn.

If you are an Aries, you were born between March 21 through April 20. The Aries sign appears as the curving horns of the ram; the image is often confused with that of a sprouting weed.

The Artwork Of Arm Tattoos

Articles to help you choose your tattoos

Around the world there are many cultures that have different views on what is right or wrong. There are things that the western world does that seem strange or funny to others. And while right or wrong is determined by each people group, there are similar even if different ways to mark milestones in ones life. Tattoos are used in some cultures to mark manhood or even womanhood. Most people have seen National Geographic's shows dealing with pacific islanders or rain forest cultures and the way that tattoos play a part in the society. Some of the techniques have been copied by American tattoo artist and some of the artwork is being put onto arm tattoos.

Arm tattoos are popular because the person can hide the tattoo with a shirt. They have the best of both worlds because they have a tattoo but during work it is hidden. Some people will say that if a person has a tattoo they should be proud of it and show it off. The basic premise is true but there are many jobs or careers that would frown on a tattoo. Imagine going to work on wall street in a suit with tattoos all over the neck. It makes it hard to even get some jobs.

Be The Fan Of A Lifetime With Celebrity Tattoos

Although many celebrities are well-known for having tattoos, tattoos are now being known as looking like celebrities. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Martin Luther King, Jr. have been popular celebrity tattoos since the 1960's. Today, you can order a tattoo of any celebrity you wish. Just be really, really certain you want Billy Bob Thornton looking out to the world through your left arm for the rest of your life.

How Do They Do It?

Tattoo artists are exactly that - artists. Whatever you imagine, they will do their best to make that image a reality that you can take with your everywhere. They just use ink, needles and human skin for their art materials rather than paint or canvas. The method of getting a complicated dragon eating baked beans design around your belly button is the same as for getting a heart that says "MOTHER" or for getting celebrity tattoos. First, the artist needs a stencil of your design. In the case of celebrity tattoos, they need a good black and white portrait in order to make a clear outline (or "stencil") of the design on your flesh in black ink. Then, through separate visits, colors are added as needed.
