Exuma Anthony Mackey

Althought my introduction to Exuma began with The Obeah Man, let I would like to share the first song I every heard from the musician. I was captivated, ( voodoo spell?). This song is so visual. For some strange reason, when I hear this song.. I picture a hot humid swamp, just before dawn, sweat, the golden sun, and a moment of peace. An quick reflection before the nightmare begins. This song is based on the voodoo belief of reanimation of the dead, yes, you heard me right; zombies.. The wonderful thing about this song, again is the array of sounds, the tambourine, the voices of mystics, and the eeriness of it all.

Exuma was had very high ratings by the music industry, yet, his music was not a huge sucess, he did not make much money from his record sales. Tony Mackay passed away in 1997, he had died in his sleep.

His music was extremley hard for me to find when I was first introduced to him, and finding information on him was equally as hard.

But half the fun was getting there.

That is why I'm not going to give you a sound clip of Dambala, Seance in the Sixth Fret, or The Vision.
Because you'll probably enjoy the search, and if you've gotten this far down in the lens, you have a geniune probably hava a genuine interest in this artist, and I don't want to take away the exploration experience.
