Which key nutrients found in Vitamark products impact the health of your eyes in a major way?

Serious age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
This serious problem is caused when the retina degenerates from the center outward--causing the victim to lose central vision first. The good news is that there is a Naiional Eye Institute(NEI) study on the prevention of AMD. This study was conducted over an eight year period(reported on in 2002) and involved more than 3,500 people over the age of 55.

This study revealed some specific nutrients that, when given in the early stages of AMD, significantly reduced the vision loss usually caused by AMD. *

In fact the research team even went so far as to recommend that anyone at risk for AMD take the same amounts of the nutrients used in the study:*
. Vitamin C - 500 mg
. Vitamin E - 400 IU
. Beta-carotene - 15 mg
. Zinc (as zinc oxide) - 80 mg
. Copper (as cupric oxide) - 2 mg

There is more research focusing on Vit E, C, beta-carotene and some of the B vitamins showing that they assist with another serious eye problem, cataracts.*

Cataracts are a serious concern that arises when the proteins in the lens of the eye are changed causing a part of the lens which is normally clear to become cloudy. Over time, this "cloud" grows, eventually interfering with vision. The study you are referring to took place at Tufts University in 2003 and looked at the benefits of specific nutrients in preventing oxidation damage that contributes to the formation of cataracts. The team studied 13 years of nutritional and medical data from almost 500 women over the age of 50. This data was backed up by a more recent study done in 2005 and reported on in the "Archives of Opthamology".

The National Eye Institute says that nearly half of Americans over the age of 75 develop cataracts. What did they find out about the effects of beta-carotene, folate(a B vitamin), riboflavin (B2), and vitamins C and E?

The first study showed that women who had the highest intake of the nutrients had the lowest amount of cloudiness in their lenses.* Furthermore, women who had taken vitamin C for more than 10 years were less likely to have the cloudiness related to cataracts than those women who had taken no vitamin C.* Certainly makes a case for C-Crystals doesn't it.*

The second study zeroed in on the B vitamins and vitamins C and E work from the first study.
In this study the Tufts team analyzed data from the Nurses Health Study and found that those who took vitamin E for more than 10 years had less progression of their cataracts
