A Heaven's Blessing Called Child
Life might be hard and full of burdens, but there is always time to feel yourself blessed with everything that God has given in life. To me, one of His blessings that I have always been thankful for is His giving me a chance to be a Mother.Yes, I have always feel blessed to be a Mom!
Ever since the first months of my pregnancy until today, being a Mom to a beautiful, lovely little girl is an amazing thing in my life. In fact, seeing her smile and holding her close to me are some of the things I crave for everyday.
My daughter's name is Raden Ayu Athifah Qurrota 'Aini, or Aini for short. She was born on February 14th 2006 through a caesar surgery.
Her name 'Raden Ayu' are given names from my husband's family, a salutation almost similar to 'Lady' in English word. She gets this names because my husband heirs the royal blood of the old Banten Kingdom in East Java, Indonesia.
Meanwhile, 'Athifah Qurrota 'Aini' are Arabic words which mean 'A Pure Woman who Soothes the Eyes'. They are kind of poetic, because the words 'Soothes the Eyes' don't really mean 'cooling sore eyes' but rather 'pleasing anyone who sees her' with her kindness and good attitude.
Though it's never an easy thing to be her Mom, let alone a perfect one, I always feel happy to have her in my life. She colors my days everyday, and our destiny to be bonded as Mom and daughter is something I always thank God for.
A Caesar Surgery
I gave birth to my daughter through a Caesar surgery. It was a long and bitter decision to take, since the only thing my husband and I got in mind at that time was to give a normal birth to our first kid.
The truth was, because my water had exploded on the previous night and it had been bleeding for almost 22 hours, the doctor dared not take any risk to wait another hour.
With water kept flowing out whenever I moved and no progressive opening for the baby to come out, I had to take the surgery as the last and only rational choice to save the Mom and baby. So, I did it. We did it, my husband and I.
Then, after the frustrating 45 minute surgery, everything was finally over. The baby was safely pulled out and the I was saved too.
The truth was, because my water had exploded on the previous night and it had been bleeding for almost 22 hours, the doctor dared not take any risk to wait another hour.

Our Moments with Bell's Palsy
Shortly after Aini's first birthday, she was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy Syndrome. The exact cause was not known, only that the doctor assumed she was infected with some kind of virus that weakened her face muscles.The result of the syndrome was very heart-breaking!
Could you imagine a little girl (as little as 1 year old) who was once healthy and normal, all of a sudden had a lopsided smile on one side of her face?? I cried whenever I saw her. In my mind, I kept on thinking it was unfair for such pure and innocent soul to face that cruel fate.
My husband and I, along with my parents, went through her treatments which seemed like long and endless times.
We went through a twice a week therapy for some months, got her expensive medications, met several specialists in two different hospitals... spent minutes on our day and night time to massage her face at home, and more.
With a part of my heart broken, I had to stand strong and carry on with our lives. With time passing by, I realized then that I might fall to pieces but should never be carried away with my sadness. Because my baby needed me, and she needed me to stand strong by her to fully get over everything.
In the end, all we could give was a total surrender to God. We've tried our best to heal our daughter, but the result could be anything from success to failure. One thing for sure was, whatever her condition would become later, she'd always be our prettiest, loveliest, beloved daughter...

What She Loves Very Much
There were times when she loved playing with her plastic cookwares and dining set very much! She'd pretend cooking a meal, making coffee, and feeding her dolls.There were also times when she enjoyed watching her favorite movies, Strawberry Shortcake, Tom and Jerry Show, Pooh and Friends, Barbie, and many more. Right now, she just loves singing the Backyardigans' opening song and enjoys watching the movies.
She also now enjoys drawing very much, especially because she's already able to draw a people-like sketch - a round head with two eyes, a mouth, two legs, and two arms - and balloons, so many they fill up her drawing books.
She enjoys playing with her block set, so busy constructing robots, buildings, houses, and many more with her plastic blocks.

By February 2009, she'll be 3 years old. Such a cute little girl with so much to wonder in this life!
Today, Aini has grown to be a very caring and kindhearted little girl. She enjoys every moment she spends with her parents, even it only means helping us with daily chores at home.
She's also her grandparents' favorite! With her brilliant mind that easily memorizes new songs, Aini becomes a perfect duet to her grandpa and grandma. And she also enjoys drawing, reading story books, and accompanying her grandpa while working in his farm (my Father owns a small space where he plants cassava tress and grows some chickens near our house).
Aini is also an easily satisfied little girl. She never asks for anything beyond what we, her ancestors, could give. All she demands is attention to whatever she does and wants us to know. And that's why, we all love her very much.
