And just who IS Barbara Eyre ?

I am just a simple gal, happily married to a wonderful guy, and living in rural North Carolina.

While we do not have kids, we do have the furry variety: an ornery 'old man' of a dog - Merlyn, and an adorable black cat aptly named - Dot (Dotsie).

I am originally from Des Plaines, Illinois.  I left in 1994 to attend Arizona State University. From there, I have lived in many places, traveling like a gypsy and getting to know who I am.  Las Vegas, Ireland, South Dakota, Arizona, and North Carolina are just some of those places.

I have an ecletic list of things I like: 60's and 70's classic rock (especially British Mod and the Moody Blues); reading fantasy books; cross stitching; ghost hunting (seriously!); researching religious histories; watching cop/crime shows (Law & Order, CSI, Criminal Minds to name a few); watching British comedies; learning about ... well, anything that is of interest to me that day.

I'm especially fond of Ireland - the only place I've ever called "home". I am only 3rd generation American.  My great-grandfather was from County Kilkenny and his wife was from Lincolnshire, England.  I've done some genealogy, but since many records in Ireland have been lost, I am at sort of a dead-end.

Social and Business Networking

There has been a sudden increase in social and business networking sites. Search engines love them, like they do Squidoo.

They are a fantastic way to meet future business partners, advertise your businesses to targeted customers, and make fast friends.

Below are the social and business networking sites I have joined in the last few weeks. I have benefited in many ways already: I'm branding my name, am getting hits to my websites, and have met some wonderful people from all over the world.

Which one should I focus on the most right now? Just curious about what you think. I know the answer, personally.

Job History

I started working right out of high school in 1991. I have done a lot of various types of jobs since! These are in no particular order.
  • Worked in a small pet shop, doing everything from cashiering, to cleaning of the cages, to selling and stocking, and more. One of my favorite jobs and had an awesome boss! R.I.P - Chuck K. We lost a good soul.
  • Cashiered at a major hardware chain in Illinois. Met a lot of great folks.
  • Worked at an answering service. I learned quickly how weird some folks can be!
  • Crowd control security in Arizona. Worked the Super Bowl and a few other great events. Long hours, lots of exposure to the public, scratchy polyester black pants.
  • Title clerk at several car dealerships in North Carolina. I also performed other tasks: notary public, accounts receivables and payables, packaged contracts to send to the financing banks, cashiered, receptionist, hounded staff members to get them to do their jobs correctly since there are a lot of legalities associated with the paperwork.
  • Own an e-commerce store and informational site. My first time as self-employed. As a result, I have been learning a lot about marketing online. Have met a lot of fantastic people - just wish I could met them in person!
  • Work freelance, mostly uploading products to clients' online stores. Sometimes the products are boring, but other times fun to work with. It is grunt work, but needed and it pays the bills.
  • Short-lived, but fun! Worked at a Gem Mine in North Carolina. Love Mineralogy and Geology.
  • DREAM JOB: For my online store to make enough to support my husband and I (we don't need much); to continue to build small personal websites (personal or e-commerce); and thus make enough so my huband doesn't have to work in the factories any longer.

What do you have to say?

I would definately love to hear from fellow North Carolinians! But am willing to accept comments from anyone. *grins
