What are Mouse Maps?

A picture is worth a thousand words!

So what makes Mouse Map different from other Disney travel guides? The Maps, of course!

Mouse Map: Disney World overview map.

Mouse Maps are color-coded descriptive maps that portray the major theme parks, water parks and other selected locations. Each Mouse Map page is a diagram of one area of the theme park that shows where everything is located, with a short description of each attraction, restaurant, shop and other features. That means you don't have to flip back and forth between the map page and a description somewhere else in the book as in other travel guides. Here's a list of the Mouse Maps:

  • Magic Kingdom: Overview (sample below), Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown Fair, Tomorrowland.

    Mouse Map: Magic Kingdom
  • Epcot: Overview, Future World (sample below, two pages), World Showcase (four pages)

    Mouse Map: Epcot Future World.
  • Disney's Hollywood Studios: Overview, Hollywood Boulevard (sample below), Echo Lake and Commissary Lane (sample below), Streets of America, Pixar Place and Animation Courtyard, Sunset Boulevard

    Mouse Map: Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom: Overview, Oasis and Discovery Island, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Africa and Rafiki's Planet Watch (sample below), Asia (sample below), DinoLand USA

    Mouse Map: Disney's Animal Kingdom.
  • Water Parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon
  • Downtown Disney: West End, Pleasure Island, Marketplace

One of the dreams Disney is granting is a membership to Disney Vacation Club. That's my dream! I love sharing my membership with my friends and family. Another 220 points would go a long way in fulfilling their dreams!

Using a Travel Agent

Using a travel agent can make planning your vacation very easy! The key is to find an agent who thoroughly knows about Walt Disney World. Here is my recommendation.
Dream Come True Vacations
This travel agency is run by my friend Joe Raube. He and his wife, Mary, are so helpful and friendly that you'll be amazed at how easy it is plan your vacation. I was so impressed with how they operate their business that they are teaching me how to be a travel agent. While I'm learning (hey, even after I start my own travel service), Joe and Mary are an excellent agency to use to plan your perfect WDW vacation!

About Those eBooks that Promise Savings

Be sure of what you are getting

As you browse the web, you will probably find advertisements and web pages that promise to save you hundreds or thousands on your vacation. Please be aware of what these books are offering. Most of the supposed "secret tips" are readily available and are not so secret. They will tell you about the Disney Dining Plan (which can save money but isn't for everyone), supposed "secret" discount codes that are publicized on Disney's own web site, and basic ideas such carrying your own food into the theme parks or staying offsite.

The one "secret tip" that might be valid is to rent Disney Vacation Club points instead of paying regular rates at a Deluxe Resort. You can read more right here on Squidoo at Barrie's Disney World Resorts for Less.

The best savings strategy is to take the time to learn about Disney World and plan your vacation well in advance. By knowing your options for resort hotels, tickets, dining and shopping, you will make smart decisions about your vacation - and have the best vacation possible for any budget!

Just So You Know...

This lens and Mouse Map (both the website and the book) are independent publications and not associated in any way with the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disney Company. This information is presented to help you enjoy the best possible WDW vacation. Everything has been personally researched and verified. Disney does change things up regularly, so verify important information before traveling.
