Ezio is the main character of Assassin's Creed 2

Set in the Italian Renaissance, Ezio is a noble out to get revenge for his murdered father. He is the descendant of Altair, and ascendant of Desmond Miles, from the first game

Regardless, it seems that Assassin's Creed 2 will be a much more involving game than the first one, taking more than 20 hours to complete, as well as with less padding and filler.

He will effectively do a eurotrip of his own! Going to places like Italy and Venice, he will do the classic coming of age tour of the european countries, albeit with a lot more flair and deaths...

You'll also see several cameos by Altair, from a legendary armor of his to many other cutscenes. There is also a spoiler but that won't be mentioned here.

Watch out for Port Authority if you do buy the DLC for Sequence 13 (in unlocking it), it can be one of the toughest mission in the entire game ever. It is a no detection rule on sneaking up a ship with the golden target wedged tightly between many brutes and sentries.

Ezio's true name

His full name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Auditore should be his family name and de Firenze referring to where he comes from. He is rather young but by the time you finished the game he will have grown and the ending will stun.

Memorable Places

Some of the more impressive places has been Italy, where although the mission was rather infuriating the Duomo was well constructed in the game and can lead you into thinking you were climbing the real Duomo in Italy.
