Facebook pages are fantastic for promoting your organization, small business or product, but how can you turbocharge your pages and make the most from your fans? This lens shows you how, with some great ideas for grabbing more fans, increasing loyalty and even boosting your SEO.

Newsletter Signup

One of the most exciting things about the new Facebook fan pages is that you can easily add a signup page for your newsletter or email list. This provides another convenient place for your fans to interact and signup for news and information.

You can do this now because Facebook has added their own markup language (called FBML) to pages, so you can add a simple signup script generated by your email marketing provider (such as AWeber).

You can find out all about FBML here

To become a fan of FBML, just click Become a Fan

To add your newsletter signup you'll need to grab some code provided by your email marketing company (usually a script) and then add this to one of your FBML boxes.

Pages let you create multiple tabs for your wall, info, etc., each with their own URLs. So you can add your signup page to it's own tab and send people directly there when you're promoting your newsletter.

Advertise to Get More Fans

Facebook provides some good targeting adverts that appear as people check their walls, etc. You can target the adverts according to demographics such as age, gender etc. Facebook ads are a great way to promote your fan page. The Facebook shows a 'become a fan' button at the bottom of every page ad, so readers can do this in just one click. Ads are paid on a per-click basis so you can control your budget to whatever level you choose

Good for SEO

Facebook pages are open to the web - they are not hidden behind the facebook login, unlike most other areas. This means that your Facebook page is another good place to build links back to your other sites (your blog, Squidoo, etc) and increase the value of these sites to the search engines.

Learn More About Pages

Like everything else on Facebook, the best way to learn about using fan pages is to take a look around and see what other people have done with theirs, then have a go at building one yourself. It's really easy to do. Tell your friends about your page and ask them to give you some feedback. If they like it, ask them to tell some of their friends and you'll start to see your number of fans increasing
