How to unblock Facebook
If you think your access to Facebook has been blocked, a Facebook proxy can help you stay connected. A recent survey of U.S. businesses by Robert Hall Technology showed that 54 percent of business owners block employee's access to Facebook at work. According to some published reports, employees spend as much as three hours of work time on social networking sites like Facebook during work. Many schools have also blocked Facebook access for students. In the past two years, countries such as China and Iran have banned Facebook at different times.
Facebook Proxies-Keeping You Connected
- A web proxy. This is an easy way to get to your Facebook account secretly. You simply log onto the proxy website, which directs you to Facebook where you can sign in. You don't have to register with the site.
- HTTP proxy. This proxy requires you to go to an IP address that takes you directly to Facebook.
Using a proxy, particularly and HTTP proxy, there are some risks. Your information may be captured by the HTTP server-including your passwords and private information. You may be spammed with unwanted advertising. Even if you use a web proxy, your IP address will be revealed and you could find more annoying pop ups and unsolicited mail in your inbox.
However, the advantages of being able to access Facebook from work or school far outweigh the risks in many situations. For example:
- You are a parent that uses Facebook to keep up or monitor your child's activity while you are at work.
- You are a college student far away from home and you want to keep up with friends and family while at school.
- Many people use Facebook to network with business colleagues. Even though this would help the company, many managers still block Facebook. This is likely because some employees have spent more time playing games than networking.
- If you have a sick relative or friend, you can keep up with them through their Facebook updates.
With more than 300 million users worldwide, Facebook is not a trend that will go away. Studies show that Facebook is continuing to grow, particularly among users 35 and older. The number of Facebook proxies will increase as more people seek to get around annoying firewalls implemented at work or school.
