Build traffic and promote your blog or product in 4 easy steps!

Facebook has over 300 million users spaning across the globe! Taking the time to make a fan page on Facebook is a great way to build traffic to your blog or website. It's also a excellent way to promote a product, event, or anything else you want a lot of people to see. I recently created a fan page for my blog (techlifemashup.com), and have been quite happy with the early success of it. I would encourage anyone else who is interested to do the same.

  1. Go to the following website and login with your facebook account: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

  2. Step 2

You should now see a page that says "Create New Facebook Page." You want to select the category that best matches the purpose of your fan page. In my case for example, I selected the "Brand, Product, or Organization" category with a subcategory of "website." I then entered my website (TechLifeMashup) that I was looking to create a fan page for below.

  3. Step 3

The next step is to confirm that you want to create your fan page. You do this by checking the box to authorize creation of the page and then enter your full name as listed in facebook into the "electronic signature" box at the bottom of the page. Review that all information is correct and hit the "create page" button at the very bottom.

  4. Step 4

Once you have clicked the "create page" button above, your fan page will be created. You should now be sitting at the default layout for your fan page. You will now want to configure the settings of your fan page to shape the layout the way you want it to look. The final step will be to click the green "Publish" button at the top of your fan page once you have it setup the way you want everyone to see it. The "publish" button will allow the rest of the facebook community to see your page. Please see my tips and suggestions below on how to further setup your fan page.

Additional Suggestions

Tips

* If you have a twitter account, you can link it to your facebook account by clicking the option "Link Your Page to Your Twitter Account" right at the top of your fan page. This will make it so anytime you update something on your fan page, it will also update on your twitter page. (nice time saver!)

* To add a image (i.e. logo) to your fan page, simply click the image box in the top left of the page and select change profile image.

* To edit any specific settings for your fan page, click "edit page" in the upper left of the page right under where you clicked to edit the image.

* You can then use the wall posts section to share articles from your website, blog, or to post information to your fans on anything.

* My final tip that I would like to offer is the suggestion of looking into promoting your fan page on Facebook. By promoting your fan page of facebook, you can gain a large fan base quite quickly! Look for one of my upcoming articles, which will go into full detail on how to do just that.
