Determine your skin type
When choosing a face cream the first step should be to figure out the type of skin you have. There are a few different types of skin namly oily, dry, sensitive, combination or sun-damaged.
The easiest way to determine your type of skin is wipe your face with a tissue. This will determine wether you have oily skin or combination skin. If there is a lot of oil or grease on the tissue then you most likely have oily skin. If oil comes from the forehead and/or nose you will most likely have combination type skin.
Sensitive skin will be vulnerable to using new products and may be or become blotchy in places. Dry skin will undoubtabley leave the face feeling tight and may be itchy in certain areas.

Day Face Creams
Our skin is exposed the most during the day time. Everything from the sun, wind, rain, air-conditioned office to pollution effect our skin as we go about our day. It is important to keep our skin's moisture at the appropriate level required throughout the day. A good day cream should keep your skin moisturised.
Day face creams should firm and tone the skin whilst maintaining your skins natural ph balance. Some day face creams are scented but we like to use unscented creams and keep the focus on restoring moisture into the skin.

Night Face Creams
Night face creams are generally thicker and heavier than day creams as they attempt to lock in moisture though out the night allowing your skin to get maximum hydration and regeneration. Our body repairs itself at night as we sleep, this is also true for our skin.
Night time is when our skin is free from exposure to sunlight, wind and other skin damaging effects so to apply a cream at night provides our skin with the maximum potential of regaining it's natural healthy state.
Some of the best night face creams to use contain organic ingredients. Organic face creams have been proven to provide the necessary repair to the elasticity of our skin that we lose as we get older.

Moisturizing Face Creams
These face creams should be mineral oil free and fragrance free as they are used to provide the sole purpose of moisturising your skin.
Some moisturising creams are used all over the body so again they should be free from gimmicks if you have sensitive skin.
A good moisturising cream should be applied after a bath or shower whilst the body is still slightly damp.
When using a moisturizing face cream it should not irritate the skin in any way or leave the skin feeling greasy after.

Anti-Aging Face Creams
This range of face creams should provide some sort of protection from the suns rays as sunlight will dry your skin leaving it aged looking. Also look for an anti-aging cream that contains Vitamins A, C, D, and E, and minerals and these will help with the healing process.
