Ranked #16,689 in Culture & Society, #339,175 overall

The Biggest Oil Spill in US History

This spill in the Gulf is the biggest Man Made Disaster that I have been alive for. We are so technologically advanced that we can drill a mile below the surface of the ocean, but we don't have the foresight enough to prepare for an accident of this magnitude.

I think we should be preparing for these kinds of disasters. We should not be doing something if we don't have a way to stop the flow of oil, to keep our extraction of the world's resources from getting into the environment and endangering animals and the environment.

Terrific lens on such a shocking subject.
Totally appreciate all the info you have pulled together, we all knew oil wasn't a good thing before this tragedy but now we can never look at oil in the same way again.
It is beyond repulsion the irresponsible manner with which the situation has been dealt. As you have provoked the thought, all that is needed is a how to help - or how to donate on this otherwise excellent page

I watch cnn every night waiting for them to stop this leak. It is very sad for all the animals and the people that have lost there lively hoods and of course the 11 workers who lost there lives. I just pray every night that they stop this leak and clean up this mess. Great job.
