Rare Performances By ESTAMPIE & QNTAL
From FaerieCon News; The internationally celebrated medieval band Estampie will be performing their first US concert appearance in their 20-year history at the Good Faeries Ball on Friday night October 12 . Estampie performs historical songs on handmade instruments with lyrics in Latin, Medieval German, and several other ancient tongues.
The darkwave band Qntal will be returning to Philadelphia for their second US performance in their career at the Bad Faeries Ball on Saturday October 13. Qntal consists of two musicians classically trained at the Salzburg Mozarteum and a gifted electronic music composer. In their quieter moments, they convey an otherworldly vibe not unlike Dead Can Dance and Lisa Gerrard's work, while their more energetic tracks are akin to Delerium. Brian Froud's art was featured on Qntal's latest CD, "Silver Swan" and well as a video created by Brian and Toby Froud for the song, "Von Den Elben" which will open the show on Saturday night.
Friday night's headliner is Woodland, the magical Celtic fusion band that is always a featured band and wildly popular favorite at Faerieworlds, in Eugene, OR. Another Faerieworlds favorite, guitar virtuoso Scott Huckabay, will open for Qntal on Saturday night.

- While Faeriecon is too far away for me, I have been to Faerieworlds for the past three years, so I'm familiar with the Frouds and many of the musicians. It's a great time!
