Fairline Yachts

Welcome all! This lens is all about Fairline Yachts, one of the most popular and fine quality yacht builders in the world today. Read on to learn more about the history of Fairline, current Yachts in production, unique qualities of Fairline yachts, external links, and Fairline Yacht dealers.

History of Fairline Yachts

The Fairline legacy was begun in 1963 by Jack Newington, when he aquired some disused gravel pits in Oundle, Northamptonshire, England. He converted them into a marina, connected to the nearby River Nene. It was in 1967 that he released his own boat, a small 19' river cruiser. This was the first step in the Fairline legacy.

The next notable boat to be released was the Phantom 32 in 1974. This was the forerunner or the long ancestry of family cruising boats which essentially 'made' Fairline the company which they are today.

By 1979, the Fairline staff had reached 140 in number, and company turnover was £5 million. This led to the launch of the 36 turbo, which received huge acclaim nationwide, and in Europe. The company has done nothing but grown phenomenally. There are new building sites, at Weldon and Nene Valley, and yacht production never ceased to grow.

The Fairline Legacy Today

Fairline are know universally recognised as one of the world's leading Yacht builders. Still based at their original location at Oundle marine, they have produced close to 20'000 yachts, and still manufacture small family boats, as well as huge vessels targeted at the "large yacht" market, of which Fairline have been intergrated into since 1991. They have many strong and respected dealers worldwide, have been the first choice of many rich and famous individuals, and have a company confidence based on 'the strong yacht building values which were evoked in Fairline when it began nearly 45 years ago'.
