Lorain County yearly events include the Lorain County Fair, the Lorain International Festival, the North Ridgeville Corn Festival, the Elyria Apple Festival and the Wellington Cheese Festival. Ohioans come from around the state to take part in these great events and have fun for the entire family.

Residents of Lorain County are lucky to live in an area that has both urban influences and small-town influences, as well. The many festivals reflect the area-specific feel of each respective community where they are held.

The Lorain County Fair

Traditional Fun For More Than A Century

The 2012 Lorain County Fair will be following the tradition of an event that has taken place since 1856 and is widely acclaimed as one of the very best annual events in the entire State of Ohio. The fair is held in the Village of Wellington, which is also home to the Wellington Cheese Festival.

Admission for the Lorain County Fair is very cheap (just four dollars in 2012), and a ticket gets you access to many different kinds of booths, games, rides, livestock shows, entertainment, music and livestock shows. The fair takes place in the month of August, and features free parking.

The City Of Lorain's International Festival

Lorain International FestivalThere are few events that you can attend in Lorain County that offer as much fun, great ethnic entertainment and food as the 2012 Lorain International Festival. The parade and festival celebrate the tradition of the City of Lorain's famous heritage as the "International City," and the accompanying bazaar feature traditional music, costumes, live entertainment, games, food and other delights. It is usually held at Black River Landing just adjacent to the Black River.

Elyria Apple Festival And North Ridgeville Corn Festival

Corn FestivalTwo other famous and well-attended Lorain County annual events are the City of Elyria Apple Festival and the City of North Ridgeville Corn Festival.

The 2012 Elyria Apple Festival will take place in September in downtown Elyria (in Ely Square just in front of City Hall) and has been a local event since the year of 1980. It will feature vendor booths, arts and crafts, games, entertainment and great food. The festival was named for the many apple orchards and apple growers in the area.

The Corn Festival in North Ridgeville started out as an event honoring the Ohio Bicentennial, and has evolved into a fun yearly event that attracts people from all across the county for games, food and entertainment. It kicks off with a parade and features unique events such as a corn eating contest. The 2012 North Ridgeville Corn Festival, just like festivals from years past, will donate all proceeds to local charities and community improvement projects.
