Read Mexico's Incredible Amicus Brief Against SB 1070

The Mexican government has managed with the assistance of several U.S. law firms to produce a brief so stunning in its overall outrageousness that they have outdone themselves. Mexico's position through their brief, filed against SB 1070, is that the democratic will of the Arizona electorate, the inalienable right of self-determination and republican government guaranteed by the Constitution, is as nothing compared to the demands of a foreign state that continues to claim the right to meddle in U.S. domestic policy. Anyone who maintains that illegal immigrants are "subject to the jurisdiction" of the U.S. for the purposes of the 14th amendment has better never read this brief, because the convenient fictions about birthright citizenship would evaporate in the harsh realization that the Mexican government clearly believes it has something to say about that conclusion and considers Mexicans in the U.S. to be, in some form, always under its jurisdiction.

Summary of Arizona SB 1070 as Enacted

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law on April 23, 2010. The legislative intent of the bill, set forth in Section 1, states that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of Arizona, and declares that the intent of the law is to make attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona. The provisions of the law are intended to work together to discourage and deter "the unlawful entry and presence of illegal aliens and economic activity by illegal aliens in the United States." The following is a summary of the main provisions of the bill.

Amnesty and the American Worker

A look at how illegal immigration has harmed working class Americans and how amnesty would make matters worse.

Below is an excerpt from this new FAIR report:

"Unemployment is at its highest level in 27 years. Since the current recession began in 2007, the U.S. economy has lost over 8.4 million jobs, the largest drop since the Great Depression. According to February 2010 Census Bureau figures, 13.2 million native-born workers were unemployed - not including those Americans who have been forced to work part-time, taken temporary work, or who have given up looking for work altogether. At the same time, there are an estimated 7.5 million illegal aliens in the U.S. workforce.

"The economic opportunities for less-educated native workers have steadily decreased as illegal immigration has increased. The correlation is evident and has been identified by a consensus of labor economists. The influx of uneducated, unskilled illegal alien workers has created a massive labor surplus at the lower end of the labor market. Today, the unemployment rate for those without a high school diploma is over three times that of those who have a college degree. And wages for the working class have stagnated since the 1970s, widening the income gap considerably."
