Faith Moments Today

For over twelve years now I've been writing the weekly devotional we call "Faith Moments.©" It began as an outreach ministry to senior citizens who were shut-ins. We included puzzles or crosswords, trivia and such. The devotional part really wasn't the main focus, until one day in the fall of 2000 when I asked my sister this simple question.

"When you read your devotional, do you read the verses or look up the study scriptures?" Her response, "No, I just read the story."

That wasn't what I wanted to hear, but she was honest, and in fact right. We asked around, and almost every person reading any kind of daily devotional said that they only read the story and the verse that is on the page. I realized that the purpose of any daily reading is to draw us closer to God, not to a story. So we changed our entire layout, and focused on a small lesson, leaving the individual more time to read the Bible. We added "Read the Bible" in one year and a salvation prayer to the layout, and from there it is history.

Over the past ten years now, the "new" Faith Moments Weekly Devotionals© have reached millions of people through the mail, internet, partership with SOFFY Ministries®, and in street outreach. More and more people are actually reading the Bible through in one year, without a struggle or any pressure. It is my desire that you too become part of that group of people, and that you come to have more Faith Moments© in your life as you grow in your faith.
